Barry's legs are gone. Maybe a granddad now.

He's not the man to bring on in a game like that. He's at his best when you're dominating possession, not in a blood and guts derby were energy and workrate are key.

The loss of Stek and McCarthy to injury, robbed Koeman of the opportunity to make 2 more positive subs i.e. Mirallas and Deulofeu

If that were true then why not bring on Cleverley or even Mirallas and push Barkley back into midfield? Even if its true that your players weren't tired and it was just a change of approach after McCarthy's injury, it as your manager that made the decision! The reason I don't think it was a conscious decision to drop deep and stop pressing is that it happened before McCarthy went off, and actually the possession stats between 30-45 mins were close to 70% for Liverpool and we started to get into the game a lot more towards the end of the half as your players started to tire.

Cleverley is **** and Barkley couldn't play that deep role and do what McCarthy did, it's simply not his game.

Barry was his only real option and as I said above, the 2 injuries robbed him of being able to make 2 more attacking changes in the latter stages - as you did.

He only had one experienced attacking option on the bench, which he ignored.

Gotta agree, Barry coming on was a game changer, he became a liability for them and certainly helped us keep the ball..
He sat back so deep, just in front of their CBs that it left a lot of room for Gana to close down because he wasn't getting any help from the others.
He faded and we kept getting stronger.
If I'm honest I wouldn't have complained if we drew that game, we weren't at our best but we kept going which was good/positive to see.
Only critisim I'd have of Everton (and us) in the first 20-25mins, they were up for it, but at times their final pass wasn't of required quality, had it been we may have been a goal or 2 behind, but we weathered the storm and grew into the game, only thing I'd say about our performance in those first few minutes was that our composure was no where to be seen, need to be braver on and off the ball..

But.. all's well that ends well!

He brought on the only striker on the bench <doh>

Without the injuries he'd have probably used Mirallas and Deulofeu to replace Lennon and Barkley, or possibly Lukaku pushing the youngster into the central striker position.

Tobes how do you think you deserved a result when you didn't even have a single shot on target (except Williams' header from a free kick which technically was but with less pace than Barry)

    Tobes.
First 30 minutes was all Everton, but you didn't really do anything, barely had a shot. Then your game turned to kicking as many players as possible.
2nd half we controlled and Firmino had the best chance which he fluffed straight at the keeper. Nothing clear cut after that, but your guys looked tired

We didn't allow you to build through midfield in that first half and you were under pressure at the back and often going long, which isn't your game

We didn't use the ball well enough when we got at Milner in particular down your left hand side, the final ball was poor.

    Deulofeu wasn't on the bench.

I haven't watched him often and don't know if your opinion differs from watching him more often but I think the player you have missed a lot this season is Besic, he's exactly the type of midfield player with energy that you lacked once McCarthy went off and have been for most of the season.

Losing Phil Jagielka through supension was another reason for your light midfield.

Don't know it its been posted but this is just hilarious and the type of banter between supporters that should be at football games, rather than the Munich/Hillsborough/Heyseyl ****e.

Aye, Besic would have been made for that game. Did his cruciate at the start of the season, he's had some seriously bad luck with injuries in his time with us. Every time he starts to establish himself he breaks again <doh>

Schneiderlin is strongly rumoured to be our first signing of the window, and he'd be the perfect partner for Gueye imo

Can't see the tweet at work, but I'm guessing it's the birthday card thing?

Was quite funny in fairness, but tarnished by the missile throwing in the second half.
