Best way ever to win a derby. That was payback for the Jagielka goal.

Those calling it a "horror challenge" are just going in for the usual journalistic -style hyperbole. The phrase makes it sound like a deliberate assault, and it wasn't that. Some tackles are just deserving of a red under the rules of the game today, and in the spirit of refereeing consistency - that was one of them.
No big deal, imo - discipline is just part of the game.

To be fair it was also the perfect angle for Williams to clear if he wasn't stood watching...

Fully deserved win. We controlled majority of the game and we created 2-3 clear cut chances without being at our best.

Everton created nothing - no ambition.

    Rubbish.

You forced 2 saves in 94 minutes, first half you created **** all and we were the better side. Second half you were the better side after we lost McCarthy, but for all the possession barely threatened. A draw would have been a fair result, as neither side played as they can and it was a typical blood and thunder derby for the most part.

You doninaed first 25 and creates nothing. We dominated rest of the game when you ran out of puff. Your only chance was a loopy header right to Mig... compared to us hitting the post, firm being 1v1 with the keeper and should have scored, Firm having one cleared off the line, Clyne having one blocked about 5 yards from goal, firm having another one saved from a corner wth good save.

We we didn't create lots but it could have easily been 3-0 if the very good chances created were taken.

Oh and you should have been down to 10 <whistle>

Not really, one team was trying to scrape a 0-0 draw, only one team was trying to win the game, that was the team that won.

Behave, you had 4 efforts on target in the entire game. You dominated the ball second half, first half you did nothing.

You maybe just edged it overall, but the 'fully deserved win' comment was absolute bollocks

4 efforts on goal... 3 of which were very good chances compared to your 0 efforts?

One team wanted to win, one wanted the draw.

First half your shower bricked themselves. Only Klavan looked composed, the rest were like Arsenal the week before, rabbits in the headlights.

He brought on a striker to play wide right, how was that playing for a draw? We were trying to win the game, only once we lost McCarthy we didn't get enough of the ball.

We deserved to win purely on the fact that we got the goal.
It was one of those wins that we have to grind out if we're to put up a real challenge. We've seen this so often down the years from Utd, Chelsea etc - not playing all that well but just doing enough.
You paid the price for not threatening the goal when you were dominant. Mignolet was never tested at all in that game.

I know it hurts Tobes but despite us not being at our best, we still created some very good chances, and dominated possession.

That is why we deserved the win.

You don't deserve anything for the lack of ambition your lot showed.

FIRST HALF: Everton overworked themselves thinking that they can score an early goal and frustrate us.
SECOND HALF:Everton ran out of ideas and started playing dirty.
CONCLUSON : Result justified the means " patience"

Nah, we let you tire yourselves out, as per usual your players let the derby atmosphere get to their heads and got too emotional. You threw everything you had in the first 25-30 minutes at us and didn't create a single good chance. Then the reality that it wasn't sustainable kicked in for your players and you had to slowly retreat back towards your goal and ended up playing the last 20-25 mins on the edge of your own box.

Yeah you brought a striker with zero premier league goals on and no experience, what are the actual chances of him making an impact against an experienced Liverpool defence?

There was no lack of ambition though <doh>

The game changed when McCarthy went off, as we gave you time and space in midfield that you didn't get first half. That enabled you to get the ball to your attacking quartet in our final third. That's not a lack of ambition, it's a lack of midfield legs ffs!

I can't be arsed looking, but I'd wager you've barely played another game this season where you had so little in the way of efforts at goal.

The reason we dropped deep was Barry was dropping off rather than pressing the ball as he's not got the legs to do what McCarthy did.

Calvert Lewin also came on against Arsenal last week btw.
