Sunderland boss Moyes ponders free agent Caceres by Paul Vegas16 hours ago< 500 READS SHARE THE LOVE image: Sunderland are being linked with free agent Martin Caceres. The former Juventus defender is a free agent and fully recovered from knee surgery he underwent last season. And Sunderland boss David Moyes is considering taking a gamble on the Uruguay international, says hitc.com. Moyes has revealed he has no money to spend in the January market, so the opportunity to take on Caceres, despite his injury record, could be a gamble he's willing to make. hes a good player, if fit , he has had his surgery. but will he be up to speed, look at Big Vic, i didnt give him a dogs chance, but he proved me wrong
Even with a gammy knee he would be a good signing. Definitely worth a punt (although in my mind he is not a punt, he's a good signing)
Yeah but not a top, top, top player!! (Agree totally though, looked like a world class defender before the injuries!)
Sell Kone to highest bidder and bring this lad in for free with Oshea and Denayer as back up centre backs. Risky but sounds like one big sale is inevitable and it'd be Kone or Pickford and with wages the issue I can only see it being Kone as he'll be on three times what JP is on a week
Selling Kone to get him off the wage books over Pickford... the difference will be less that £1m in wages but the fees would be bigger in favour of Pickford by more than £1m surely. Makes you wonder though doesn't it, when Kone had Sunderland over that barrel in the summer and you gave him a new contract... why not just accept the £18m and not up your wage bill with a new contract if things were this bad? Everything points to Short not having a clue about what was happening in his books, too busy staring at Byrne's jugs when she was telling him?
Didn't we lose about 18 players in the summer? The 8 we signed, which of those would be on very high wages. I can't understand all this wage limit we are on. If we are still paying players who have left then who are they and how much are we paying? Who was on a 4-5 year contract and has left over the last few years and we still pay his wages or at least part of them. Alvarez? Fletcher? Pantillimon? ...... who? Any on a shorter contract would surely be finished it by now. Anyone on high wages like Henderson was sold. Most of our good players were loans like Rose or Alonso. I think we are being given a lot of manipulated figures.
Nobody should be claiming hindsight for something that only happened 4 months ago though mate, it's hindsight for the fans perhaps, but the owner should have sold him, on the spot. What was he hoping for a magic fairy to come and make FFP disappear? N'Dong for £17m and Kone for £18m you could have bought M'Vila assuming for £8m max, and had £27m change. Not the fans fault mind, it's a shame y'all gotta put up with that clown.
13 for Dong. 18 for Kone. Neither are worth half of that imo. Im not getting on about M'Villa. A masterpiece on ****upadreay
I'll never understand the N'Dong signing for that amount of money. I think we done right bun Kone and we are seeing a stronger defence now now his head is back on track. Maybe he has realised that looking bored and greedy won't help him get a good top move in the future but what ever it is he is looking a good defender again. Midfield we are weak and again the N'Dong money makes we mad when we could of done so much better with the money.
Even if he has started to look the part again mate, £18m is good money and it's too good to turn down when you're super-scrimping and have a thin squad. I reckon Moyes would have sold him and probably not bought N'Dong if he'd known there was nowt else left in Short's piggy bank.
I'm not convinced that we'd be better off selling Kone even for good money, I know it could be used well in theory but the importance of a solid CB pairing shouldn't be underestimated. Kone and Bod look good to me now they've both settled in, one bruiser and one who can play a bit, with the useful right foot/left foot combination between them. It could well turn out that we sell Kone, the replacement is crap and we go down saying "in hindsight we should have kept Kone".
Maybe. But not hindsiggt. Kone acted a ****, and was willing to jump ship. If its a choice of Kone or Pickford going to raise money. Easy choice. Of ya pop Mr Kone
