Everton 2 Arsenal 1 Ashley Williams scored a Mackie-ish header (bit like our finale at Man City) into ground and up into the net (last time he scored was against Arsenal too).
At least Blackburn, finishing with only 10 men managed to score a couple of goals against Brighton, and one of them short-handed. Still, I'm happy to say, a 2-3 home losing cause for them.
Here's a happy camper, our former player Matthew Connolly scoring one of the goals. please log in to view this image Neil Warnock saw his side fight back from 1-0 down to beat Wolves Cardiff City are out of the Championship's bottom three after fighting back to earn a late win over relegation rivals Wolves. The visitors led after two minutes as Cardiff goalkeeper Ben Amos failed to stop Matt Doherty's long-range shot. Matt Connolly headed them level before Anthony Pilkington struck with an assured low finish after 86 minutes. Cardiff climb up to 19th place, three points above the relegation zone, while Wolves drop to 20th. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/38217655
I see that Fulham came from a goal down to beat Rotherham 2-1. The last time we came back to win after conceding the first goal was when we beat Bolton fourteen months ago. In fact our record after conceding the first goal in the last four seasons is ... W9 D10 L55
Fulham have a +10 GD, Brentford 0 and ourselves -10 due to the fact that we can't score goals. Rotherham's GD is -26, even though they managed to put one past us with no reply, Cardiff are -11 GD. If we could start scoring again I wouldn't mind if we were on the right side of 3-2 scorelines - at least it would be entertaining football.
After Robert Snodgrass' conned penalty award last week against Palace, Hull got their just desserts today with a dodgy penalty call against them that West Ham scored on to win the match. Hull hit the post three times and could have easily won this game today.
Well on the bright side at least Rotherham, Wigan, Blackburn, Burton and Cardiff all lost today to maintain the status quo with our league table position, now with a game in hand at Villa tomorrow - we need to make it count as Wolves did today at Forest with a win to push us down a position. Cardiff lost their match against Barnsley at the death (90+5 mins) but at least they scored three goals in a 3-4 losing cause, that must have irked Warnock after they came back fom 3-1 down to tie up the match in the 89th min. We really couldn't have got better results than these today from our fellow strugglers:- Blackburn Rovers 2-3 Reading Bristol City 1-2 Preston North End Burton Albion 1-2 Newcastle United Cardiff City 3-4 Barnsley Fulham 2-2 Derby County Leeds United 1-0 Brentford Nottingham Forest 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Rotherham United Wigan Athletic 2-3 Ipswich Town No movement 13 Aston Villa 21 1 28 No movement 14 Brentford 22 -1 28 Moving up 15 Ipswich 22 -2 28 Moving down 16 Bristol City 22 1 27 Moving down 17 Nottm Forest 22 -4 26 Moving up 18 Wolves 22 -2 25 Moving down 19 QPR 21 -10 23 Moving down 20 Cardiff 22 -12 23 No movement 21 Burton 22 -7 22 No movement 22 Blackburn 22 -10 20 No movement 23 Wigan 22 -9 18 No movement 24 Rotherham 22 -27 10
Nice to see the Birmingham board get the instant turnaround they were after, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!! Two late goals for Brighton to win 2-1 and consolidate themselves in second
What did Sky call it? Mersey Monday or something equally stupid? 0-0 after 50 minutes and only 1 attempt on target.......sounds mind numbingly dull....
...watching it on a dodgy stream - moderately entertaining despite the lack of goals... nice not to feel in the slightest bit nervous about a result...
Sorry but bloodbaths are just not allowed in the Premier League, you know, the self proclaimed greatest league in the world...........that sort of thing only happens in the lower leagues.....
