I was chatting to a family friend of jake Heskeths who told me that his new contract puts him on 3.5k a week. Is that too much for a 19 year old? Seems crazy to me.

That is 99% basic so he is on probably double that really.

 

Does seem a fair bit. I like what Liverpool have brought in something like a 40k p/a maximum for youth players.

Though I assume Jakes is a more of a first team contract now?

From memory, only Gerry Gurr was a first team keeper from the 1960's equivalent of the Academy, and his career was sadly blighted by injury. Have we ever developed another GK?

 

Bob Charles - the fat boy?

 

All I remember of Bob Charles is that he died within a few days of John Christie, another Saints keeper from the 50's.

 

When I get home I'll have a rummage through ITN and read up about him.
