Davis hasn't been immune to the moans recently, but he really showed his class yesterday.

He hasn't be great this season, I'd think he'd freely admit that. Good squad player, as yesterday showed.

A lot of fans only see what Davis brings to the team when he's not playing, yesterday showed the difference quite dramatically.

I am a massive fan of his, and not just because he gave me the signed shirt I am holding in my profile pic <laugh>

No, he's rubbish, past it, no end product, doesn't create, can't tackle ... blah, blah, blah!

Davo is absolutely class on his day.
I think it's fair to say he has had a poor season though - he was immense yesterday, and against Arsenal in the cup. We need to see him back up to those levels every week!

Davis hasn't been dreadful by any stretch, but I was surprised that he seemed to be scuffling a bit in a system that seems to be tailor made for a hard-working midfielder.

The odd thing is, I actually felt like he was playing okay early in the season when everyone else was struggling with the formation. And then when everyone else seemed to get better, Davis disappeared.

He was at his best yesterday, which was good to see. Going forward though, I'm not sure. It may very well be what Beefy said-- that he can't play 90 min week in and week out anymore and is therefore more effective as a rotation player or impact sub. Or maybe he just had a bad/unlucky patch.

I haven't noticed him being particularly slow or unwilling to run. But he had been making too many bad and weak passes prior to yesterday. Maybe due to age the game has sped up a tad on him and is causing those mistakes. And playing in the second half against tired opponents slows it back down just enough.

I don't know. But if Koeman can get Rodriguez and Davis playing like that consistently (even if just as second half subs) then the team is suddenly a lot better.

Davis is one of my favourite Saints players of all time. Whilst it's true that this season has not been has not been up to his own consistent high standards, we've still seen his class show at key moments - yesterday of course being one of them. Hopefully many more to come.

Brilliant player, and for the (relative) peanuts we paid for him, he's more than paid it back.

It's no exaggeration to say that Davis is essential to the team. When he plays well, we win. When he has an off day, we lose.

He sets the tempo and leads by example.

May be Davis playing an international tournament in the summer slowed him down a tad.

You maybe right, but I'm hoping Puel does it :)

I think he maybe a player who needs to play week in week out, rather than being rotated, but that's just a guess.

Davis's performances this season have been regularly prejudiced by where he has been asked to play and how he has been asked to play
Playing left or right midfield or defensive midfield isn't where SD is at his best but that has generally been driven by the infamous "Diamond Formation". In previous seasons he has always been at his best in the middle of the three in a 4-2-3-1 formation. His energy, ability to transfer the ball from defence to attack and his ability to spot a through ball shows him at his best.
Look at the second half yesterday, brought the forwards to life

Marca reporting that we're after Garcia from Eibar.

Inter also want Morgan (go there Morgs, please!)

To be fair, many of our internationals have struggled.... most worryingly Forster...!

Still think Forster's knee is not 100%. But we have no back up... well Taylor...
