Right, now without being pickie about wording etc the word "deliberately" does not appear anywhere in the news article. Maybe we are only finding out via an audit just where we stand financially down to the last dollar.. As Tel says, the players and Moyes are ready for the fight and I for one am with them.
The Syd Sundermad forum. But in a flash it suddenly hit me - no matter who we get we are still goosed by FFP.
Think it's to lighten the blow for when we sell Pickford and kone? And then use the money from them for new signings.
There's an interview in today's Echo (sorry can't paste) in which DM is stating he's trying to build a younger team as well as achieving his main goal of staying up and the gist of what he is saying didn't seem to me that selling our young assets was the way forward. My biggest worry is who is going to come into the side to cover the ACON absentees next month, we could be playing several U 23s which might be a step too far at the moment.
Imo - Thats it in a nutshell FFP - the way Short(not a football expert ) has pumped money to the club which has been wasted by people who should know better FFP now prevents further gamble But as we all know it's easy to blame the manager chairman and board - the players are not individually good enough but Moyes (to my suprise) seems to have them focused and resilient - we are starting to become a good team Hopefully after a happy relaxing off-field Christmas we continue moving upwards KTF
Disagree on a few points here wandy. The money wasn`t wasted by people who should know better. They didn`t know any better, that`s the problem. Yes it is easy to blame the managers and the board but I can`t see who else to blame. If a player gives his best but isn`t good enough that isn`t the players fault. Bringing in poor players, on top wages, long contracts, still paying for them after we`ve given them away. The Alvarez thing still rumbling on. How is that anybody elses fault but those running the show? Shorts hands are tied by FFP. The same FFP that he was mad keen on. Let`s not forget that one of the top people spearheading the FFP project was our very own M. Byrne. How very convenient. I agree with the last bit.
To me Short has done his bit....we just can't keep buying players and selling at a loss. What's happened before Moyes has been flogged to death. Moyes has shown himself by bring in a 'free transfer' beast what you can still get out the market. Let's just stop pissing and moaning about all fcuk ups and concentrate getting that fourth bottom spot. It's very doable because I think we have a good core of a team and a good manager that can get out the best of everyone in the position we are in.....four wins out the last seven is pretty decent with an injury ravaged squad....onward and upward!
Agree with you ' it is a big series of mistakes but M Byrne was, imo, responsible for many wrong calls. She was responsible/involved with many player contracts and transfer negotiations - she was not a football person and failed in that role. To me she approached FFP from a legal viewpoint but unintended consequences are surfacing. BUT that's just my view and we need to move on now and with our backroom PR guys who seem clued up and I feel we will move upwards - My concern now is what happens if a big bid comes in for Pickford - will he want to stay ?? We need him here
We certainly do need Pickford. We can`t really afford to get rid of any of them although I wouldn`t be surprised if Khazri was first out. Agree Byrne has a lot to answer for and Bain is doing now what should have been done years ago. It`s annoying me to think that Short has finally woken up and paying attention when he wants rid. I`ve seen a quote somewhere from Moyes about keeping the players and building up from the youths. I`ll see if I can find it.
Agree but we h Ave spent big recently and shot ourselves in the foot - I think freebies will be ok as we seem to have a better quality in boardroom. We must keep Pickford who is immense and crucial for us - plus he's a mackem and has mackem qualities - he'll he a regular England player -bit like the Liverpool & England captain ... We'll not progress as a selling club KTF .
"experience at player recruitment - I get to emotional and carried away when texting on my mobile - Progression KTF
