2-1 FT. Another win at the Lane, but not the greatest performance. Some bright points, but we made hard work of it and looked very sloppy at the back, at times. Subs did pretty well, but a number of starters looked well off the pace. Spurs win, Arsenal lose and all is right with the world. Merry Christmas!
Since you put it that way... Merry Christmas indeed. I'm off to read the Piers Morgan meltdown on Twitter. Always entertaining.
A win is a win but that wasn't great. Rose and Winks were excellent, Walker and Dele redeemed themselves somewhat, but the rest...... Sissoko will no doubt be the talking point for the Press, but we shouldn't have ever let it become a game-changing issue. Anyone got any mothballs, we need to go and hang GKN up in the wardrobe for another week.......
I thought we attacked very well. Goals aside, we had Alli's early chance, Kane's chance, Eriksen's header and Son's chance, that we really should be putting away. Plus we had Walker, Sissoko and Winks who overplayed good openings and then some good shots from outside the box. Obviously we need to improve our finishing but the 1 goal win really flattered Burnley. Defensively, without Toby we're still a mess. If he's not back for the next game I'd start Wanyama or Wimmer in defence and move Dier forward becuase he's all over the place at the back. Lloris was our worst player though and it's not often that happens, I'm sure it was a one off. A point off Arsenal and 4th place going into Christmas? I'll take that, we're not usually close until their Feb/March collapse.
No mention of Sissoko's challenge? Good job he plays for Spurs or he'd been getting slaughtered. Other clubs' players can't raise their studs and land them in an opposition player's thigh. Not allowed.
From the BBC match report Substitute Moussa Sissoko was given only a yellow card for a high, late challenge on Stephen Ward, before putting Rose through on goal in the next move, as the full-back smashed home at the near post. From the BBC match report for Man Utd/West Brom Absolutely no mention of Ibrahimovic's head-high rugby tackle, which he only received a yellow card for.
