The entire bench and support staff were beaming for him when he came off, lovely to see

Overall, a really good performance today. Bournemouth weren't very good but Saints were.

    Bertrand was fantastic
Cedric is quietly having a good season
    Hojbjerg turned his match around
    Clasie was very good
Davis got forward and linked things together well
Redmond didn't shout and scream at anyone else (that I saw)
Boufal was excellent apart from his two moments of stupidity
    Rodriguez actually scored goals!!!

I'm very cynical about professional football and footballers. At times it seems hard to relate in the same way as in more simple times. But as Jay left the field today the smiles (Long looked as pleased if he'd scored) and obvious joy for him was a bit special. We may need more firepower, he may still stuggle for form but just for today he's a Saint, one of us, well done Jay.

Not something to shout about, but we've jumped off the bottom and above Hull, Burnley, Boro and Sunderland in the goalscoring stakes now. Two behind Stoke and West Ham.

Still only Chelsea and Spurs have better defensive records than us.

I hope Jay never reads this thread.
No, I hope Jay reads this thread and hunts you down. <laugh>
Forget his goals, his work rate was superb. Made up for the lad.

TBH it was always pretty obvious we were a form striker away from converting "boring, negative" draws into "exciting" victories. Long may it continue.

That's it though - we're (still) not blessed with great options up front, so number one priority is to make sure we're solid defensively. It's what Koeman did during our horrid run last season, then wait till one of your options up top hits form.

Dare I say that Bournemouth were a tad complacent?
I 'm not suggesting that they had an off day, as the commentary did, but they were certainly less active, when it came to closing us down, as they were last season.
I am so chuffed for JRod. Hope he follows up with another goal or two in the next few games. His all round play today was good, and really must have some people rethinking their opinion of him.
Great win, especially as it sometimes felt as if we only had 8 outfield players, given the impact made by Redmond and Tadic, during the second half.
    JRod for England? <laugh>

As I said in this thread, a Pelle type striker and a attacking mid in Jan will make me happy.

Fantastic second half performance headed by Steve Davis's introduction and can't stop grinning about JRod
Thought Sky's coverage is shameful......last whistle, adverts, now to the main event. FFS how much disrespect can they give us?

Agree with that Badger. And also they have not been used to playing two high intensity games in the week like we have. Our six changes did provide us with more energy, although that was more apparent in the 2nd half.

What a weekend! Centre Parc with the grandchildren, 45th wedding anniversary, Saints win away, we come back from a soft early goal, Jay scores twice, Saints poor first half, great second half, Steve came on to change the game. BUT but but Jay didn't get a hattrick! MELTDOWN!
