he got his instruction via his earpiece from the FA/PL representative at the game to give a penalty - they don't want Allam and his **** tainting the international Premier League brand
Poor decision for sure, but then so was Snoddys dive last week. If you don't score goals your always going to struggle, prove me wrong City.
actually there have been a lot of penalties for that this season because they're cracking down on that type of foul. Noble quite clearly tried to pull out of that tackle, but w/e, there will be a natural bias on either side, I do my best to be impartial. Good luck for the rest of the season, if your players keep putting performances like that in then I can't see you being in the bottom 3 come May.
Good question. I was in 119 in between two other blocks. Behind us a large cordoned off area unsuitable for viewing, then there were distant upper tiers above us with more City fans in them. There were pockets of fans singing in each block, but also swathes of passive quite fans that we seem to specialise in. Some of these are seen- it- all OAPs, some are families where the male is a fan and the mrs and kid(s) get dragged along too, then there are the East Riding types (saw one lady offering the contents of her tupperware box to a friend two rows below). There were also a couple of 'risk supporter' buses spread out among the other fans, and plenty of other niche fans groupings : arty Hull student exiles, the M&S clothing brigade and so on. It's a big ask for many people in Hull, a day out in London before Xmas......plenty of people just can't justify it, so the more mature or affluent ones are over represented. What we need is cheaper prices and more concessions for kids/oaps. Oh....
While I know we should clearly have taken our chances yesterday so to some extent have only ourselves to blame, just wanted to record amongst all the negativity that of the 35-40 games I've seen us play in The Premier League (get to about 8 a season) that was the best I've seen us play by a mile. Yesterday our players did look like Premier League players and in many years supporting City I can rarely remember us dominating a game so much and losing. I felt MP's selection and tactics against Boro were a sackable offence and he should have switched to 3-5-2 and dropped the invisible due of Mason and Hendricksen far sooner, but I give him credit for the last 3 performances. Don't think its coincidence that we've played better since we started playing with 11 men, and also not a coincidence we looked less effective when Hendricksen replaced Livermore. Strangely I feel its less of a lost cause now than I did a week ago when we weren't bottom. But if those 2 come back into the team my optimism won't last long! Supporters positivity still has a role to play. Actually thought the support was good yesterday, and most stayed to applaud the effort although quite a few just turn their backs and head off.
Except that nobody thought it was a penalty, including Howard Webb and all the ex professional pundits.
I think you've got it spot on with our fan ''type'' - a glamour game in London just before Xmas is certainly going to bring out a majority of the quieter type. Yesterday was meant to be my only trip to London of the season, unfortunately it fell on the wrong date, and since I'm no longer prepared to bodyswerve family events for Hull City I missed out. I've found that the best away support of recent years has been at the nostalgia games (Bury, Accrington etc) and the non-glamour PL sides. I don't think it's just Hull City - top level football has lost its mojo, it's getting evermore difficult for me to find any joy in supporting the team.
The linesman certainly thought it was GLP - the ref never gave it, his view was obstructed by Clucas.
So much for the much-vaunted hooligan anarchy hotspot outside at the end. Think they must have all been so embarrassed by theft of 3 points that they made themselves scarce and reconvened at the Queen Vic for some saveloy and eel pie.
that, or it's been completely exaggerated by the beeb who have a massive axe to grind over the white elephant stadium.
