Fez is our ref, I think. I found this on the FA website in Laws of the Game under Law 12: SENDING-OFF OFFENCES A player, substitute or substituted player who commits any of the following offences is sent off: denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (except a goalkeeper within their penalty area) denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the opponents’ goal by an offence punishable by a free kick (unless as outlined below) serious foul play spitting at an opponent or any other person violent conduct using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures receiving a second caution in the same match SERIOUS FOUL PLAY A tackle or challenge that endangers the safety of an opponent or uses excessive force or brutality must be sanctioned as serious foul play. Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play. "Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play." I think it's clear he "lunged". The "force" in my opinion was slightly "excessive", but mainly I think he "endangered the safety of an opponent." I do defer to our qualified ref, though.
That's the first I've seen of it in the embedded video - stonewall red for me, out of control tackle as soon as he goes to ground ( though don't think there's intent, just working to win the ball back ).
Sorry. Got mixed up - thought this was a thread on the Watford board. Anyway, well done for the three points, hope the rest of the season goes well for you. I'll be off now.
Difficult one for me, he was impeded like but no excuse for a 2 footed tackle. What gets me is the inconsistent refereeing.
It's a milder example of a two footed lunge as he gets the ball and his feet are low but yeah it's a red card for me. The one Rojo did the other day was at the other end of the scale, feet raised high and no ****s given about getting the ball and he got a yellow. It's no wonder people are pissed off with refs.
I might be swimming against the tide but a yellow, at best, for me. Vardy gets a shove and, because of that, he loses a bit of control. If you watch him he tries to adjust his feet so they're directed downwards towards the ball, rather than letting them rise of the ground, which certainly would have been dangerous. Also, as with most players, the guy who's tackled makes a meal of it. Just like Kasabele did with Anichebe. The game is far too soft, now. Bring back the Ball days.
Yeah sorry baby but this was not the straight legged horror tackle I've heard it described as. Yellow and a talking to at best.
I thought yellow for the reasons outlined above but don't use two feet to tackle and don't give the ref a question to answer, simples
Thanks babe, but if anything Vardy was pushed sideways but the other player making him off balance. There is a million times difference between this tackle and the 2 that the Man Utd player did twice. Just my opinion any way, and if 100 referees saw this I bet it would be 50 / 50 split on red card issued
having watched it again and in slow mo a yellow all day he goes for the tackle, get pushed by the opposition, and the gormless **** that got hit just stood there like he wanted it to happen he never moved
Aye babe there is a lot of difference between them, I just think it's a lot simpler to say that any two footed lunge is a straight red and that's that. As far as I know that is supposedly the case not that you'd know from the refereeing inconsistency. All the players have to do is not go in two footed and they won't get sent off for it, I've played a lot of football and I've never gone in like that and if I did it'd be because I was trying to hurt someone.
