I wasn't being rude towards Sunderland. I meant that in the Valencia match we finally saw a powerful balanced side that was capable of giving any Premiership side more problems than most will be able to handle. Now I fully expect Sunderland to give us a good test. I would be very disappointed if they came and 'parked the bus'. From what I've read on this thread I don't think that will happen. So I'm looking forwards to a good match and hopeing for a win.

We won't do that mate, we may sit back a little and try and catch you on the break, get Sess and Gyan a run at Carragher , but we won't defend out and out, we'll try and win the game.

    I guarantee this.

No offence taken marra...I've enjoyed the light-hearted banter of this thread...For me it has certainly took the heat out of other more serious debates that took on our board tonight.<ok>

As has been said before, it's been very refreshing to see a good natured dialogue between fans of both sides. If we can do it why can't others?

I'm sure the Sunderland V Newcastle one will be equally, if not more respectful next week <whistle>

I think it just proves that there is a mutual respect between the majority of our fans <ok>

I was, but only in a jokey way as I expect a tough game next week. As has been said several times on here, sunderland have made several good buys and I think they would be disappointed not to improve on 10th place finish.

Won't effect our game mate, but there are games off in London tomorrow in the league cup, who knows if it'll clear by Saturday.

Everton are due in Tottenham iirc?

I'm going to try to redeem Americans, but after bluff, that may be hard... <whistle>

Last year, I tried to watch as much football as possible, especially the matches that looked interesting. Blackburn v. Wolverhampton, I might forward through to watch the goals, but the games that looked good on paper, I watched every second. Even the Liverpool ones, though let's face it, everyone knew Liverpool was going to blow everyone out :p

So, as I was saying, I got to watch a lot of the players consistently, and the two being talked about the most seem to be Carroll and guan. My outlook is: Carroll, nice strong number 9 type forward, does what you'd expect; win the balls in the air, some nice shots, and great hold up play. Big downside is he uses his arms way too much when ball is in the air. Gets called for too many fouls trying to win the header because of outstretched arms. Question, as a Geordie and still a toon fan, does he see himself as judas like the rest of the fans? :p

Gyan, on the other hand, puts me in mind of obafemi martins (sorry for bringing up an ex-Newcastle player...) hes quick, good touch, game changer, and is unpredictable. Not always good though, as occasionally he makes the easy look extremely hard (world cup penalty, for example.) Nerves may have played a part in this, though, and ill hold off judgement until after his second season. I fully expect him to play extremely well against us, as I think he'll have settled at the club, and this will not be an easy game. I'm going to say 3-1 Liverpool, with a late goal as the clincher. Wouldn't be surprised to not get all three points, though.

It's going to be an absolutely brutal week haha and then should one side win there'll be an absolute riot (too soon?) kicking off for weeks to come!

Got a feelin that game might be off. As for us, couple of gangs gathered on the streets but seemed more to watch if anything was happening. loads of coppers on OT till one pm as they think it will happen before then but looks likely not, tonight<yikes>

I don't think Gyan struggles with nerves one bit, he hit that penalty true, to true as it where, then he stepped up and scored in the shoot out, that's balls of steel right there!

At times last season, the team was struggling and Asa was overworked looking for the ball and trying to force things, we shouldn't have that this season with the increased squad size.

Gyan has had a season to settle and have a full pre-season. We should be starting to see the best of him this year especially with the delivery of Larsson and the creativity of Sess backing him up!

He got 11 goals in 20 starts and some sub appearances when he first signed and when he came back from a couple of injuries. He is capable of 20 IMO. Fingers crossed ey?

I'd be disappointed if we didn't get close to 20 from Asa mate, he should surely thrive on Sebs delivery, and the fact he ain't carrying such a burden now.
