If we can do that in the manner in which Chelsea keep thrashing everyone 1-0, I will be very happy. Perhaps it will be the start of something, and we can 1-0 our way to 7th in the PL, winning the Milk Cup on the way.
More than the result, I care about seeing an improved performance. In my opinion our football in the last couple of weeks is borderline unwatchable, to put it bluntly. You might not agree, that's just my opinion.
I don't know. Even though we'll again have not scored, a 0-0 away to Bmouth is hardly the worst result in the world (if against 11 men!). I wouldn't be jumping around and fist pumping of course, but I would take it.
I'm almost always result first, performance second. I would happily take 38 lots of dire matches if they were 38 lots of 1-0 wins. Only when we have little to play for, do I care more about the performance (as I want to be entertained). Fortunately, right now 7th place is still absolutely up for grabs. Given that can result in European football, there is still something to play for. But yes, these recent performances when we haven't been winning...
We weren't exactly up for it when we went there last season though. And we were on a bit of form then too. Probably one of our worst five results and performances of last season.
When playing poorly you can get a good result now an then, but playing good football will probably get you better results in the long run. I'm not really that demanding regarding the quality of football I would like to see. Match against Everton was probably not our best performance ever, but I was very happy with what we showed there. Enjoyed watching that match, despite it being only 1:0.
Why does everyone get so hung up about not beating 10 men? There are literally hundreds of examples of when that doesn't happen.
Everything else in that post of mine I would argue is on the positive side. I'm saying that I would be happy with a 0-0 draw today!!!, but just quantifying it by saying that such happiness probably wouldn't exist if ultimately such a 0-0 was against 10 men. I know you have a great fondness of jumping on negative posts, but I'm not sure this one warranted it. I think my opinion is fair!
I was asked yesterday why this wasn't a crunch derby match and the best I could say was "If a Pompey fan approached me with a bucket and said he was collecting money to save his club I would kick him in the balls and steel his bucket of old buttons and washers. While if a Bournemouth fan approached me in the same way I would put a fiver in the bucket and wish him well". So I will not be upset or overly worried about today's result.
If I remember correctly, we already did a bucket collection for the Cherry (SN), in 1997, so in a way we could be a victim of our own generosity. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32483325
I'm sure I remember collection buckets for the Cherries more recently then that too. Plus Southampton FC have loaned out many a young promising player to them when they were in the lower leagues. Preseason friendlies as well. It just makes their fans 'hatred' toward us all the more pathetic and unwarranted. But there you go. It's going to be a cracking 0-0 today so hold on to your hats. COYR
