I've just seen that after 22 games, that we have the same points as we did from our last promotion season. Our goal difference is +3 better.
We were 10 points ahead of the next team back then though.

I also picked up that in the years since then, that no team has amassed 49 points at this stage since we last did.

So only our old team, who went up as champions obviously, can match our current progress in this tricky league.

I read that as being well set up to finish the job over the rest of the season.

    Merry Christmas all.

There is still a long way to go and we have to keep scraping results like we did today. The fact that Brighton are still close to us is a good thing. We need to finish top two. Nothing else really matters so if they keep winning and we do and the others lose we will be better for it. Happy Christmas you sexy Geordie bastards.

It's quite frustrating, we have now won every game in the last 9 (bar you guys and Brighton) and we have made absolutely no progress towards the top 2.

Seems like it is destined you guys and Brighton are going up this year

Of course you've made some progress man! You were 13th before your run and are now 5th top. It's play-off land, but us and Brighton have got a bit of space.
January is a key month for us due to some of our players not being available, so we'll see how our squad can cope.

I hope Leeds can keep going, but I'm not sure how your owner would behave with £100m to keep you in the Premiership.

Well he's just got another ban from football (18 months this time) and the rumour that keeps going round is he is finally giving up and selling but who knows.

Generally speaking though, he's not terrible with the amount of money he puts in. It's just in the wrong places and the money gets wasted in the end.

Anyway, in all honesty I can't see us getting promoted this season. Top two are just too good for this league and we have a terrible record in the play-offs.

Quite a few people are also forgetting that we have to play most of the top/better teams away yet as well so its a far too early to be saying its all done and dusted. Hope our squad size will help during the hectic Christmas/New Year schedule and we can push on then. W
