Yeah, fair point. More needs to be done. I understand the government cuts but they shouldn't be cutting youth services. These are the sorts of things which help keep young people out of trouble.

Example:A teacher gets made redundant and has a large mortgage hanging around his neck,he goes to the job centre to register and is told theres no jobs in the teaching industry,he applies for a job in a hotel out of desperation so he can keep his house payments going.

Hes told,"sorry you cant apply for that job because your over qualified and it would'nt be fair to those who have no qualifications if you got that job".

So now he has to search for a job that equals his standard of education and not his willingness and desperation to work.

True story,It happenned to a mate of mine.

This is disgraceful behaviour. Sometimes you wonder about this country...

I hope every single person is caught and locked up. Scum.

I totally understand. It happened to me in 1979 and I had to go and work in the US leaving a young familly here in the UK. Pareato showed us in the 17th Century that when 80% of the wealth was controlled by 20% of the people the country was 'happy'. In the UK today that ratio is about 80:7 amd we wonder why we have problems!

That man makes some excellent points. I do still feel that despite the government cuts, lack of jobs and everything else, they still shouldn't be doing this. These people might not be able to afford these things but they still should not take them. They should work for these items. They have taken these items and that is going to cost other people their jobs. People who have not done anything wrong. This doesn't help the problem. There are other ways of making your point. Robbing and starting riots should not happen and is not going to help them in the future.

I understand your sentiments but they have always been these types of people. These kids are just making the most of it now but I reckon none of it will last.

Electricals will always fail eventually, they won't use half the stuff and clothes will be grown out of. I myself feel a little worried that if I go out now in my Henleys jeans will I be judged? Will people think I stole them?

These things won't make people any money, they won't add to people's lives.

The stores will be paid up by the insurance and the goverment will have to act fast.

Blessing in disguise? Not at the moment though.

As far back as i can remember thats always been the way of things, but they tell the working classes to get an education then after its attained they cant provide jobs,A university education these days is useless to the majority who are studying for degrees.

The worst thing they did was give us education because since then we've seen just how much the "upper" classes control every aspect of our lives and rape us financially.

Chris i feel your missing the point. Yeah it's wrong, but the problem isn't the rioting that's just a symptom of the problem. You say they 'should have jobs' do you realise the unemployment rates in places such as Croyden? This is the first time a generation has felt hopeless in certain areas - the cause of what's happening is the government not the rioters.

The rioters shouldn't be doing it, but they feel they have nothing to lose so why not?

Whatever way we want to look at it the whole situation is pretty awful <ok>

I live near but where I actually live is residential and isn't likely to be hit.

I've got people on Facebook and BlackBerry Messenger who genuinely quiet worried now.

A party shop in Clapham is on fire.

This might sound drastic but we need to bring the army in. Now.

Yes I agree. I've been a socialist ever since I could remeber but the old Scargill/Hatton/Militant style approach to solving the problems just won't work. The first step in my humble opinion is to stop globalisation and bring jobs back to the people - but that needs to happen on a European basis. Perhaps the Euro crisis may give us all the chance to properly address these issues.

There will always be an elite but since 1979 that elite has just got smaller and smaller. It's crazy when you can win the lottery and still not really be rich!
