1.15 - Hammersley Lake - Not convinved Top Notch will stay aswell, disappointed in the Relkeel over 2m4f and didnt beat much when he ran at 2m2f. The selection has form over this sort of trip and showed much improved form when running 2nd to Le Prezien last time out, that horse and the faller Three Stars have both franked the form since. Receives weight from most of the field. 1.50 - Ultragold - If you watch his last race he blundered badly at 2nd last yet still got up to win. Handicapper has only put him up 4lbs for a half length win, whereas if he didnt blunder you would expect a good 5+length win and a much bigger increase. An extra 1 and a half furlong here and he still looks nicely handicapped. 3.35 - Consul De Thaix - Superb seasonal debut when just failing to reel in Brain Power LTO, 4lbs better off for less then a length defeat. Both of them came away from the field nicely. He needs to brush up his jumping but can't see him out of the fold. Gave my thoughts on West Approach earlier. Can't wait to see Buveur D'air over fences, Arkle winner for me.
Need to repost this: Evening all, I am sure some of you will already be aware about this heartbreaking story about poor little 5 year old Bradley's fight against that evil thing we call cancer but if you don't already know about it, as i only discovered the other day that heartbreakingly he hasn't been given much time to live unfortunately, and one of his wishes is to get lots and lots of Christmas Cards to open, so if you all could be nice enough to send him one, and we can join everyone else in contributing to his christmas card collection and giving him a big smile, that would be great. The link for Bradley's address is here Thank you all NULL
Like West Approach at 50s ew in the 2.25 at Ascot Quick Jack over with a good claim for the gangsta is worth a good ew bet. Think Venetia and Charlie D could have a good day at haydock so little ew trixie. For me the best 5lb claim around by miles.
Definitely a watching brief. I can't see anything that could trouble him using any tactics so the fences will be the danger as it often is in these beginners. He looks a natural type for them and a fluent and quick round would be nice to see. Can't wait to see him upped in trip down the line over fences.
Arkwrisht 14/1 Fairyhouse 2:45 - has joined up with Joseph O'Brien since the Gigginstown/Mullins fallout now but was one I felt would be a nice chaser as he looked plenty big and awkward at times over hurdles. The ground couldn't be heavy enough for him and he should relish today's conditons there and 3 miles is perfect for him. The main market leaders will take beating on their previous efforts but Arkwrisht could cause a minor upset here and is a nice price to do so.
As it is a NH race he won't have the draw to worry about. Hope he comes back safe and sound, hate to think they might need to use the shotgun (bit tasteless that last one I agree)
Taking a hopeful punt on two Graham Wylie antepost treble before this weekends racing. Crack Mome (Supreme) Invitation Only (Neptune) Yorkhill (JLT & Arkle) Hopefully it looks viable and a couple of them shorter in their markets after the weekend!
The one thing that irritates me is that the bookies will still cut Yorkhill after he wins today even though he's a nailed on 1/6 shot. It's not like there is much doubt about him being the best horse, he's not 6/4 going into today and an unknown quantity. We know if he gets around he wins, yet he will still be cut in the sante post market!
I also like Ptit Zig for the fat man The consistent Sternrubin and Pyromaniac are my two against the field in the big h cap hurdle
Absolutely right mate. Madness. Hence why iv put the multiple on today in case that's exactly what happens.
Think whoever wins that Grade 2 novice tomorrow at Navan deserves to go very short for Cheltenham, being the best novice hurdle of the season by miles! Can't wait for it. Today's racings a bit blah for me, hopefully YORKHILL shows an aptitude for fencing. Over 2m his jumping will be tested that bit more.
Spot on mate- that's a very hot race. How do you see the WPM pecking order in novice hurdles and chases thus far?
Might that Ricci mare that sluiced up the other day be aimed at the Supreme? I think Riven Light is Ricci's only arrow at the Supreme at the moment
Todays darts for inspection... Ascot... 1.30 - Pull The Chord, 10/1 2.25 - Ptit Zig, 9/1 3.00 - Le Mercurey, 8/1 3.35 - Meet The Legend, 10/1 Haydock... 11-50 - Pokora Du Lys, 13/2 12.55 - Hey Bill, 11/2 1.30 - Master Jake, 10/1 2.40 - Vieux Lille, 15/2 All done in a small E/W L15... Good luck to all who are having a play today... Lets hope to bring in some bonus money for the festive period...
Triolo d'Alene @ 20s in the listed chase at Ascot looks a tasty ew to me. He's down to a mark 1lb above his Hennessy win. He lost any chance he had in this year's renewal when making an uncharacteristic error at the first fence lto. Ran ok thereafter and should strip fitter today for that outing. My only concern would be Hendo's fixation with Aintree for TDA which could mean he's not on his A game today . Over at Haydock I'll take Whispering Harry to prevail in the mud. Good luck all.
