A lot of competition but for me it is Cousins. I thought this was a very astute signing but he has showed very little of what I thought he was capable of. Others worthy of an (dis)honourable mention: Bidwell - I think he is a solid enough player whose season was disrupted through injury Onuoha - looks out of sorts and is/was never a right back Lynch, Borysiuk, Wszolek, Ngbakoto, Sylla - haven't got going yet because of injuries or one thing or another Washington - looks a dreadful signing Chery - has faded away and become ineffectual Polter - I was a fan but he hasn't progressed at all this season Robinson - sicknote Shodipo - not getting enough game time despite the potential he has shown Sandro - when/if he ever gets fit he should be dominating midfield in this division Kakay - worth a try, surely he can't be worse than what's there Henry - I won't go there El Khayati - impact sub? Luongo - the one highlight apart from Smithies Caulker - sicknote and no bottle when he does play Perch - looked like a good signing but overall has been a big disappointment I genuinely feel that with the players at our disposal that we should be doing far better and should be in the top half and potentially challenging for a play-off place. The most worrying thing is that there doesn't appear to be any leaders in that bunch and a distinct lack of backbone.
So many I don't know where to start. For me it is a toss up between Bidwell and Cousins. I thought both were better than I have seen to date. Maybe Cousins hasn't been played in his best position of Central Midfield, I don't know. Bidwell just looks weak defensively and I have also been disappointed with his attacking play. I expected more from both of them. Bidwell is slightly more disappointing for me.
I think the problem with Cousins is that he was initially played out of position by JFH. It doesn't help that he came from a relegated side into a QPR one which is still in a bit of a mess and lacking in confidence despite a good start to the season. I think he's displaying the classic signs of 'Fers Syndrome.'
From an expectation point of view I would say it would be Chery so far, not been dictating games as we'd hoped he would. The rest have either been played out of position, injured or we knew they were crap anyway.
Can't disagree with any of that save for Sandro, my two year old niece would be more dominant than him.
Most disappointing would be a player I had high expectations of at the start of the season, so for that reason it's Chery. Loves to give the ball away. Isn't as good as many of our fans would like to believe.
JFH tried to build the whole team around Chery...it didn't work....and for a "class" player he takes an awful corner...his trademark free kicks have dried up...he even missed a penalty.. If he was chipping in with a few goals, we would be in a different position....so he is the player who has disappointed me the most I expected much less from everyone else...and most supplied that in abundance
Sandro has exceeded my expectations as he's occasionally fit to walk around for 55 minutes. Bidwell was one I expected to be a solid 7/10 every week and a potential captain but he's been absolute dross.
Chery has disappointed, I think we all kind of wanted him to be Adel (2011/12 vintage) but he doesn't have that same magic. Not good enough to build a team around.
Who am I to have an opinion? This is my first post in God only knows when, got fed up with the bickering. Don't get to the matches, living abroad doesn't help! Lost a bit of faith and rarely even see highlights. But I do come on here and read the comments, read the press reports, always look for the result and follow from a far albeit quietly as I love our little team. So what's the point, why am I saying all this on this thread? The point is that my biggest disappointment is player number 12 the fans. I know it's hard for you guys paying good money and watching crap footy week in week out and yes you are entitled to your opinion but the one thing I keep hearing on here is how quite the fans are how much they are moaning people booing the players the lack of atmosphere, Dave almost lumped a guy behind him for being such a fouled mouth idiot and there appears to be an abundance of loud mouth idiots in the ground I've seen several myself. I just feel at the moment with such negativity that it will spiral out of control and relegation will become a self-fulfilling prophecy and you can see the effect it's already having on the players, are they up to the task? Negative comments don't help, too many people tell us what they don't like but hardly any have a positive comment on what can be done to solve the problem and if they do quite often it's totally unrealistic. The league doesn't lie we deserve where we are at the moment and will probably be mid-table in the Championship for a few more seasons, this season we were never going to be play-off candidates never mind promotion and therefore QPR need our patience because there is no such thing as a quick fix as we are all to aware what's happened over the past few seasons. Ollieism, Ollie has just arrived in Nepal and is miles away from Everest never mind base camp; his baggage has been supplied by stranger and all his climbing gear has been supplied by several strangers some of them not exactly trustworthy, yet he is expected to get to the top of Everest on his own without his own gear and dragging 30 odd Sherpa's, several donkeys and provisions behind him. He has only one chance and that is if all the people from all the surrounding villages get together and blow in the same direction at the same time, it's called support!
Even with the law of averages ... not that many players could be disappointing. Washington has disappointed me - so much promised, little delivered on the goal front. I've also been disappointed with our lack of leadership - our captain hasn't rallyed the troops or got them fighting. All good teams have a good spine through the team; ours has appeared spineless at times.
For me it's not the players, but the board. Give a manager 12 months and let him get rid of an inherited team and build a new one. Really? Just 12 months? How far would TF have got when building his airline. 12 months comes and there is no plane.....give up. At least you have given Ollie a decent contract...now let him see it through to the end. Let him get rid of the JFH team he inherited and build one of his own. Yeah, there will be losses along the way, but that's football. Give the players time and support and maybe they will come good. If not, buy some that will play the Ollie way and wear the blue and white hooped shirt with pride and ambition
I appreciate the points you make and ideally we'd be more positive but I think people are just sick of it. As a fanbase we've put up with an awful lot and what is left of the camel's back is quickly being broken. At Rotherham before the game people were very vocally positive towards the team. Within 30 seconds we could have been a goal down but the crowd was good and even buoyant during a brief spell of being in their half. We are like a wife who has been knocked about by her husband for years but always tried to focus on the time they were young and happy together. Eventually we'll snap and kill him with the iron.
