1-0 loss or 0-0 draw. Rodriguez to miss from an inch.

Despite your scientific background, you're one of those people who talk about the law of averages, aren't you? Or maybe you are just an optimist.

With the laws of averages this is actually fairly accurate. I still feel it will be Southampton 0, it's just whether we can frustrate Bournemouth for the entire game but if we let one in early all bets are off and the score could be anything, except our 0 that'll stay the same :emoticon-0101-sadsm

When we next have an international break, you must start a thread on "The Law Of Averages: Myth or Reality" so that we can discuss this properly. It'll be a best seller.

Mind you, it puts a whole new slant on Lawrie's great quote when we'd been stuffed 4-0 at Leeds - "We were lucky to get the nil."

I hope you realise this was in jest. The recent play has depressed me [in a sporting sense only ,my life is good and normal and I am busy enjoying myself doing all sorts of non-football related things].

If I'm at home and the laptop is on or the TV and Saints let an early goal in I often turn it off saying to my wife, well that's over then. Let's face it I've be right more often than wrong - it shouldn't be that way.

    Did he actually elbow him?
I saw a couple of replays, (on a stream, not big screen) but couldn't determine if anything more than a very gentle nudge had occurred.
The way the Stoke player went down, and stayed down, I thought he might have been taken out by a sniper.

More of a nudge than elbow, but I must add. Doing that is so stupid, either do the guy properly or don't bother, because if that were Mike Dean, the punishment would be the same.

Well another interesting change forced on us, I'd like to see Harry in for Oriel, but it will probably be Pierre, which is OK.
But if we keep playing the same team we may keep getting the same results.
We were awful last year at the Vitality and that was exactly waht our performance lacked, so anything better than that and a 2-0 losss is progress :1980_boogie_down:

We got tickets so I'm happy to have an away game thats nearer than our home games.

The delightful Mrs S is confident. (She always is)

This has something-0 written all over it.

I wonder if we are taking them seriously this year or if we are going down the road to get beaten again because they treat it as a derby and we, bizarrely to me at least, don't.

They play with intensity every game, and credit to them, they are a good unit. The crowd will be more vocal, judging by Mane's scummer chants.
We won't be allowed to miss a hat full and walk away with anything from this one.

I sense a battle between Boruc and Forster as to who will drop the most clangers.

This has "potential banana skin" written all over it. It would be nice to win the bragging rights for this mini-rivalry. It is a local derby but certainly not the South Coast Derby! Our away form has been so wretched that I would probably be happy with a draw, provided we don't play for an hour with a man advantage.

Even given our lack of goals, this game surely can't go much worse than last year. We didn't have a sniff, got outplayed in the first half (they were pretty much the only side who caused our 3-5-2 problems, by constantly having two players wide both sides), and deservedly lost 2-0.

I think we may draw this 0-0 and beat spurs.

On the plus side if our strikers continue to fail then we may be able to go in for a striker in January.

Our current side stand no chance against Liverpool in the cup.
