I seem to be getting a lot of stick from people, especially Sunderland fans, about removing articles.

I removed articles that were getting out of hand, and just turned into articles of abuse between the fans. I was told to do this by Mick, to intervene when things were getting out of hand.

Its a football forum first and foremost, and the banter between the fans is something I enjoy and join in with. But I hate seeing NUFC and SAFC fans hurling personal abuse at each other, totally away from the topic of football.

I can't please everyone, and yes I did get STAN CUMMINS banned, quite simply because none of his comments were football related, just abuse at Newcastle fans. Its pathetic, so I reported him to Mick, who agreed and removed him from posting on our board. So the powers above had viewed it before the decision was taken.

I have let so much banter go, but it seems many have different definitions of banter. I see it as harmful fun, with the odd insult maybe involved, around the topic of football, which is why we signed up here. But when it turns into people being called cock suckers, bell ends, without even a comment on football, that's not banter surely? If I am wrong, please tell me.

You're doing a good job mate and the points you make are very true, especially about random abuse that has nothing to do with footballing matters! There's banter... then there's abuse.
 
It's mostly mackems complaining anyway. They seem to see Newcastle as fair game and that anything can be said. You were right about that Stan Cummins fellow, as all he seemed to do was abuse Newcastle fans.
 
God knows why people would complain about the job youre doing.

The job of the Newcastle moderator is to ensure we're happy and the Mackems aren't. You're ticking all the right boxes. ;)
 
Leazes are you requesting a 2nd mod from maltesemick or a volunteer from here?

As for apologising, definitely didn't have to, I don't think anyone who matters was actually bothered, you've done a good job so far and made all stickies people asked for, helped get the badger smiley through and so far only blocked ONE nob...More than the 606 mods did in 4 years!
 
As a moderator you'll never keep everyone happy. Every forum I've ever visited, there's been people not happy with the mods. That's life, just do what you thinks best.
