Actually I got the 20 years ago wrong - more like 30. You're right that's what was said by certain reactionaries... but Lord Scarman found differently. If you'd been there you'd know that the lumpen looting aspect was far less than the conscientious protest elements in many cities. I see no such cause in what we're experiencing here and now. Sooperhoops is right about criminal opportunism and I would add no regard for human life this lot (vis the arson in Tottenham with people's flats above. Absolutely disgusting. Regardless of team colours, seriously wish all you and yours safe and well for the duration.
