I thought we were very good in parts and had it not been for Lloris, we could possibly could have managed a draw. Marshall had a couple of good saves, but again flat footed at points. It's a bit worrying when our biggest attacking threat is Jake though and our overall lack of fire power is ultimately killing us. I also have to take issue with Phelan's substitutions, he's ****ing clueless. We have a winger on the bench, so we bring essentially a CM on to play on the wide left??? Why are we not bringing like for like on?? And then there's the token Meyler substitution??? WTF, ****ing winds me up.
Come on, Marshall had no chance for any of the goals. Easy fall guy because of the goals he has conceded due to our defence been ****e. Yes, I thought Jak would have played at certain points but one of the most important qualities for a goaly is resilience, if Jal had conceded so many, I don't think his confidence would be as high. We didn't have the conviction up front.. Marshall made far more saves than Lloris FFS. We didn't play wingers tonight. Mason for Clucas WAS like for like (and who was the winger on the bench?). I think by this time, we're saving energy for Saturday. Otherwise, a very insightful post
They say the sign of a good team is winning when you don't play well. We lose even when we do play well which says an awful lot about our quality as a side. It's like when a lower league team plays well against a PL side in the cup and gets beaten by a scoreline which eventually 'flatters the opposition'. It's true that under Bruce we never got hammered very often, but you can't compare the Phelan and Bruce teams. One had a full squad of players that he wanted and the other has a small group, hastily assembled in the last few days. Even if he did have any input, it was too late to get the players he really would have wanted.
Without wanting to go near the battle of the goalies I have to agree that the Marshal bashing is going over the top.
But we have made a fist of it past two games. Ok we ****ed up and conceded six but you have to admit, they are having a go. Maybe with the resources available and the unsettled situation, that's just as good as we are at the moment. But I think they are better and the past two games have shown improvement. Please leave me some hope.
It seems like Livermore is getting back to his best. He seems to have been pivotal in most positive things we did.
The managers praising a 3-0 loss, we are doomed. Thanks a lot you absolute muppet Ehab. Not much else to say!
I didn't watch or listen either. As you say the fact that I'm quite happy to spend hours poring over grainy photos of Chinese people arriving at train stations, or tweets from little rich boys to see what part of the world he's tweeting from today, shows exactly where my priorities lie...and that's ****e
