Are you joking about Wijnaldum? He's been amazing. Herrera is garbage in comparison. Can comparison is unfair as they're totally different ages and costs. I don't want to replace all our young players with ones 5 years older and who cost 3 times as much since that is unsustainable, and Herrera isn't good enough to make an exception for.
What was pleasing was not just the couple of saves (we know he can do that) but that he seemed untroubled against high balls and crosses. I've said for two seasons that Migs needs to come out for a high ball and absolutely flatten someone, even if he gives away a pen, or even if he takes out one of our centre-backs. We should get Clemence to coach him. He needs to start building up his reputation as a bruser, as do all keepers in this league. It's kill of be killed.
If Can had cost 3 times more would he be a better player than he is? if so you should have paid much more for him
Windy hasn't been bad, and I'm glad we bought him. I just don't think he's as good as Herrera. Can is going backwards, I'm afraid to say. Last season he could run a game for 15 minutes in each half, then fade out for 30 minutes. Now he can't even do that. He runs like Marvin from The Hitch Hiker's Guide.
I think with the top keepers in the league, the likes of Cech, De Gea, Courtois, Lloris etc... Is that even though they make the odd mistake they give there back four confidence and when they decide to deal with something they deal with it. They get the basics right and control there area. At times all keepers fail to do this but it's the ability to continue to give confidence to the team that sets them aside.
