Diame has looked good the last couple of games, but he's been mostly **** this season. Do we hope that his recent form is more than just a small spell or do we put aside his previous lack of productivity and laziness? I personally don't want to rely on him as a number 10 long term, I'd like us to go for another number 10. Should we offer Siggurdson a way out of Swansea? I'd have him. Creative, great finisher, long range striker and also good at set pieces.
Always had him down as bit of a talentless lumbering ox, but he was awesome vs Birmingham, strong and skilful at the same time. Can't help but think he's a championship workhorse though, definitely need something better in the Prem.
Maybe he only put effort into 1 in 10 games. Remind you of any other player that used to play for us?
Once promotion is achieved I think he will be 2nd choice to a proper no 10. If we do get promoted (i think we will do) then we will have to strengthen and this is the one area where we need to. Perez is not good enough for the roll, not in the championship and not the premiership.
Interesting Siem De Jong was making some positive sounds about returning next year after his loan at PSV finishes. If De Jong is fit and firing, Diame would have to settle for his understudy I think but they are two good and different options to have, leaving Perez to cover AM and CF from third choice in both positions for me.
This. I think no 10 would be a role we could splash the cash on if and when we return to the Prem. Too big a risk to spend megabucks in January (and we'd have to overpay to get anyone Prem quality). Add some goals to make up for Gayle not scoring as freely in the Premiership and give us another attacking outlet.
I'd love Sigurdsson but not realistic. Ideally for me we'd go and buy Sigurdsson, Zaha, and a top end striker. Cloud cuckoo land though isn't it?
If Swansea go down he's an obvious shout but we wouldn't be at the front of the queue. You'd have to hope that his experience of bench-warming at Tottenham would convince him to go somewhere he'll be guaranteed games. I see him at West Ham, Watford, Stoke, etc to be honest.
You don't think the Rafa effect could tempt him here? All those sides are by definition more established Prem sides than we are at the moment, but if we come up in style with Rafa at the helm we could at least give the impression of a club that is going places.
If Swansea stay up then no I don't see us prizing star players from other Premiership teams. We can cherry-pick one or two from relegated teams, maybe some disenfranchised players on fringes of clubs in the top half but other than that we're shopping in the Championship and elsewhere in Europe. There's plenty of players to fill our ranks with better than we currently have, but it's a risk. Lets just get promoted then worry about it.
Do you understand the meaning of long term ? The title of the article indicates a question aimed at long term, so I answered it for him folders mate He's not good enough
You'd get away with Diame in the Prem as back up for a season while we bring in a first choice number 10 and build the squad over the course of 2 or 3 seasons. Same as we'd get away with Gayle as back up to a new striker being brought in, or Dummett at left back, Hayden in CM, etc, etc. It's very clear that Rafa is always going to rotate and he wants a couple of options in all positions.
