... to go to the hotel early as I'm out for a meal tonight. So what type of Xmas parties does your workplace throw?
Ha ha - they insist on large corporate pre-arranged events that never seem to work - so we are at York Racecourse tomorrow with about 250 other poor sods.
some big ****ty corporate thing tonight with 600+ people at some club somewhere, team lunch/piss up on Friday as well which will just be about 20 of us and I'm looking forward to a lot more.
I'm in the same boat as you (well not literally - which is just as well as there is only one life jacket). My Christmas night out involves treating myself to a big tin of Quality Street that I don't need to share with anyone else, as I'm the only bugger here!!
On me tod as well, 2 bottles of champagne, selection of malt whiskies, wine, 30 cans of lager and 24 bottles of beer to keep me happy.
Small event in Skipton. Strange location and it's nowhere near where I live but meh. No booze for me!
My last actual job was at Computacenter in Hatfield and they used to have a massive black tie event every Christmas in a huge tent on a farm somewhere. Hundreds of people there so it was a bit impersonal but they had roulette tables, dodgems and other games and usually some entertainment after the dinner. The worst thing was the tight bastards used to only give you 3 drinks vouchers for the bar. I guess it was okay but I would have preferred to be drinking with people I actually liked. I worked for Dixons Group in Hemel Hempstead before that and I can't remember them doing anything there although they are easily the worst company I've ever had the misfortune to work for. There must have been team nights out which are better than a huge corporate thing to be fair.
We have our 'Christmas do' in February................... because the hire of the room is cheaper ............. the company I work for made about half a billion profit last year!!!
Our team of 3 just had a nice quiet lunch today at City Social restaurant. Seabass to start, then fillet steak followed by rhubarb souffle. Lovely. Friday night is the big office party in London for over 200. Mainly just a big p*** up. I won't stop out late as it gets messy and I have a minimum 2 hour trek home - plus it takes longer to recover from big parties these days.
Send me your addresses and I'll post you the crunchy ones from my Quality Street tin. Not keen on those ones.
