By your reasoning we must have one hell of a valuable squad when West Bromwich Albion whose players had them higher up the league than ourselves, and who own their own ground which is larger than the KC were sold for only £20million more than Allam wants for us.

I suppose a buyer could buy the club for £130m then seek to recoup that investment by selling all the assets/players. If we massively generously assumed that you might get £100m for all of them it's still not a brilliant business plan I don't think ?

I recall the carry-on, I didn't think there was a definitive fee mentioned, just that we'd agreed ''a fee'' ......... not living in Hull could mean I may have missed the finer points though. £20 mill? I'd have taken him to Villa Park myself for that.

    Yep
Looks like I'll be cancelling my pass/membership/season membership/season ticket/scheme/stripe collection... or whatever it's called this week ...again.
I'd only renewed a few days before the sale to the unfit and improper people was blocked, because I assumed they were coming in and would get shut of the scheme (so I could get a seat before the rush, and because although it was outside the period of no joining fee for old pass holders I'd managed to separately negotiate no fee...so three of us saved £252 between us)

I'm hanging on in the vague hope of a sale, but if it doesn't go through in the window then I'm out...again. Probably still go to matches (if I can get a seat <laugh>) so it's more to make a point than anything else

    Happy ****ing Christmas

We' got a one year option on Robbo and Abel's contract, it's been all over this board.

And Sam signed a new deal this year.

I don't think we're worth the £130m but WBA are worth more than £150m. It all depends on how quickly you want to sell it as we know. It's similar to buying house. You might have a house worth £150k. You might put it up for £180k if you aren't bothered how quick it/if it sells or you could sell if for £140k if you want a quick sale.

I remember Alan Nixon who generally spot on about us saying it was £20m, it was a crazy fee.

That stopped us from getting Nikolic, Hendrick & an other if my memory what Nixon said was true. At the time I was against it but now we could have really done with the extra bodies.

You really are struggling to justify the valuation of clubs and the supposed value of our squad, aren't you?

Not at all. I just value the players based on what other's are charging.

West Brom have a better squad than us but it's an ageing squad and they may have a stadiumand it's over 100 years old.

Not as much as you. The supposed value of the squad bears no relation to the selling price of a club.

What a load of bollocks that is. So a business' assets doesn't affect it's selling price? You're mentally challenged if you think that.

I don't really agree with EPT's overall point here, but I don't see how it can be argued that the value of the players don't affect the value of the club.

The biggest asset the club has is its share in the Premier League. If we stay up the club is worth more although the players may be worth less in 6 months time then they are now.

To be honest my view was a little simplistic, As a base for valuing anything, adding up all the assets and then taking away the liabilities (money owed) isn't a bad way to start. I have no idea how much we owe on players, I don't think anyone does really. If we sold all the players at market value we'd probaby see over £100m but by the time you'd taken liabilities away and things like sell on clauses we'd be lucky to have £50-60m left. That still leaves like £70-80m to find on the Allams valuation and I have no idea where that comes from.

Being in the PL adds a decent amount and then we've also got things like the training ground and the profit we hope to make a year.

No clue how they got to £130m

Clubs are a nightmare to value

It does. Of course it does

However player assets aren't simply the price you can get for them, so aren't as big an element at all. You need to replace them to continue as a club, and replace them with valuable ones if you want to have half a chance of continueing as a PL club

So if anything the player assets are only really worth the difference between what you can get and what you need to spend to replace them (we're probably in negative equity at the moment!)
