The lad seems to get very few column inches but he is an absolute joy to watch. He has a great engine and has added quite a bit of bite to his game these last couple of months. For most of the season he's been sitting deep but it was good to see him making surging runs at the weekend. I read someone say that this will be a tactical play by Benitez to shake things up a wee bit and for me.. it worked. If he continues his development we will have some player on our hands.
Yeah I think he's mint and him and Shelvs play well together. if we go up we basically need to keep our CB's and keep our CM's for consistency also Richie the rest is up for grabs.
He has had a poor season for me but I think he has potential. He needs to remember that playing in the holding role means you need to be very very active. You need to sense danger and protect the box at all costs. He should be watching videos of the master of this role, Claude Makelele. As good as any there has ever been. Rafa has been cute to be fair. Left him out and obviously had him working on the training pitch. He can play a big part between now and the end of the season.
A bit harsh. He's not been perfect but I think he's still learning and he has shown a bit class imho. He will be able to grow with the club under Rafa I think as he seems to be quite intelligent and is of a certain pedigree.
Could be seen as harsh but for me he has been pretty poor. He needs to learn how to be dominant. Way too passive. In midfield and particularly holding, you're a waste of time if passive. I think he has a good base level due to his pedigree. Just needs to step up.
