Oh me, oh my! You have the nerve to challenge GULP's IQ?!?! You do realize his 'BFF' SCB will arrive from nowhere to attempt to smite you down, don't you? This could be fun to watch ... gerrit on, dude! (Actually, it will be fun to watch; their verbals are usually hilarious!)
Other than 2-3 posters the overwhelming consensus on here, as backed up by the above statistics, is that Jak has been a far better keeper this season than Marshall. Of the seven goals Jak conceded in 5 league games, 4 were scored by Arsenal, 3 of them in the last 10 minutes after we went down to 10 men in the second half, and one penalty (Leicester). In these 5 games Jaks brilliant performances earned him 1 All-European League (our first ever) and 1 All-EPL selection in separate games. In the League Cup Jak conceded 1 short-handed goal against Newcastle and was unbeaten on 3 penalty kicks. I have watched every Hull City game this season either live on our sports channels here or on Tiger Player replays (several times). I am absolutely staggered that Phelan has rewarded Marshalls mostly mediocre and losing performances with the starting GK place week after week. The differences in quality between Jak and Marshall should be blindingly obvious, not only in the total goals conceded, but in the way they have been conceded. In short whereas Jaks reaction time and agility have enabled him to save goal bound efforts time and again, Marshall's leaden-footed slowness and lack of agility has allowed shots to score which Jak would have dealt with easily. Lailanas first goal in the Liverpool game, the CP penalty, and Campbells header come to mind. In several instances, of the 25 goals Marshall has allowed he has not even moved on one quarter of them, remaining rooted to the spot. Marshall was a great GK at Cardiff 2-3 seasons ago but he is a shadow of his former self today, and clearly well past his best. The stats do not lie. Time for Phelan to recognize that Jak is by far our #1 GK and should start every game, including the League Cup semis against the Mancs. Jak inspires the whole team and our supporters. His enthusiasm is infectious. If Phelan persists with Marshall our chances of staying up are immeasurably weaker.
Marshall, fails to: 1. Track the ball and player, repositioning to cover his goal. 2. Show the agility you would expect at PL level. 3. Show the reactions you would expect at PL level. 4. Inspire and muster his defence. Jak, succeeds on all four counts. The stats are telling, so ignore them if you wish, but trust your eyes and see what is there to be seen. There are five million and one reasons, Jak, does not start. Edit: Forgot the one constructed mistake when he is held responsible for a goal from one of his saves which fell to a totally unmarked opposition player in our box. It's video evidence will no doubt reappear again, even though it shows him to be a tad unlucky and the defence non-existent (a common feature now)
I My opinions were supported with opta stats facts, they are recognised by the PL, you didn't like those, so I used your preferred stats, which again supported my argument. Yours are just your opinion and strangely only supported by PLT your alter ego - and of course our resident cock end from Cincinatti. Your opinions weren't supported with anything other than: 'I think...' 'Well they aren't accurate because a Villa midfielder...' 'Stats aren't to be believed because Michael Keane would be one of the top 3 defenders...' The very same Michael Keane that is likely to be moving to Chelsea in January I no longer have any points to make as there's nothing more to add. Whilst we may all have opinions about who should or shouldn't play - your opinion on the goalkeeper, like PLTs just makes you look as thick as pigshit.
I hardly think that Optas stats on 'saves goalkeepers should have made' can be called facts. It's the very example of an opinion. Not that it matters, because it's GLP and you're just stupid if you disagree with him about football.
Even you think Marshall and Jak are pretty much level, appearance is a huge thing. Jak appears to have a big impact on the game, on the defenders, on the crowd etc. Marshall appears to have lead feet and zero confidence.
That's entirely something that certain fans are seeing because they want to see it. Just like they don't see the saves Marshall made on Saturday which no one has mentioned.
People say this every time he makes a save, yet when Jak makes four run of the mill saves in 120 minutes he's "kept us in the game" and it's an absolute disgrace if he doesn't get the number spot on the strength of it.
You seem to relish twisting what people say and accusing all of saying what you think they say and not what they actually say. The fact that it is you who continually disrespects Jak's Newcastle performance, simply to try and support your argument, makes your repeated whinging about what others say nothing less than pathetically sad. You make sweeping generalisations and accuse others of all doing the same. Madness.
