1.30pm AFC Bournemouth v Southampton (Sky Sports) Referee: Mark Clattenburg Assistants: J Collin, S Bennett Fourth official: A Marriner
****ing hell, they only put Clattenbug on that due to the lovefest with Sky TV - they must alll sit in their Sky TV offices wearing physco pants...
Yeah, sure Thom. No other local derbies o big games this weekend? Palace v Chelsea Stoke v Leicester (not a derby as such, but pretty close) Man City v Arsenal It is him as it is on TV, they all love sucking up to egos, amongst other things. Apols if I offend the refs brigade, but it isnt just as it's a local derby, it is as it is on TV.
As far as I can see there's 6 games that have been moved for TV this coming weekend. So a fairly high chance that Clattenburg was to get one of those games. BUT even if we were one of only two games on TV, I think your logic in suggesting that the only reason that he'd be appointed is TV is quite flawed. Consider instead how TV choose their games. Whilst taking into account showing all teams a minimum number of times, they do try to choose games they think will be the 'best' - which will include higher profile games such as derbies etc. The refs association will no doubt look at a weekend's fixtures in a similar way. It is not coincidence that they come up with similar viewpoints as to where the main games are, so one of their most experienced refs taking the same game as TV choose is about as unsurprising as my Year 9 Maths class today turning up telling me they didn't want to learn Trigonometry, it's the last week of term and English let them watch a video last lesson!
Yep, good work you flawed me. Only problem is I never said it was the only reason...I said it isnt just because its a local derby... Also, you make my point by saying 6 games moved to be shown on Sky TV - that was exactlt the point im making
When I worked at the chalk face we called watching films media studies, not skiving. Media studies right!
Yaya Touré admits to drink-driving but denies intentionally consuming alcohol Yaya Touré has apologised to Manchester City supporters after admitting drink-driving, but insisted he had “not intentionally consumed alcohol”. The Ivory Coast international said on Tuesday he had admitted the charge at a Monday court hearing after being arrested in Dagenham, east London, on 28 November. In a statement released on his website Touré said he wanted to explain why, as a Muslim who does not drink, he had not contested the charge. He said: “I have always refused alcohol. Anyone who knows me or follows football will have seen me refuse champagne for man-of-the-match performances because of my commitment to my religion. “The matter has now been resolved in court on Monday. As I was above the permitted limit when tested on the night, I decided not to challenge the charge. However, it was important to me that I told the court that I had not intentionally consumed alcohol. The judge in his sentencing remarks accepted that I had not been intentionally drinking. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...tentionally-consuming-alcohol-manchester-city
