This is not a sensible argument when the goals conceded through GK errors are responsible for the dropped points. We scored 5 goals in 2 matches.
We have conceded more goals than Everton and Middlesbrough Goals conceded: Liverpool 20 Middlesbrough 16 Everton 19. Pathetic !
Not saying that they are equivalent but didn't De Gea look decidedly Dodgey at the very beginning? I can't be a hypocrite..I said we couldn't afford to have Can learn in the forward position in the league but there's at least an option of moving him back rather than binning him to the bench altogether. There again...It's the managers job to put his best 11 out there. that best 11 can be temporarily dependant on form. it's Klopps job to put the best performers out there while instilling confidence in the squad as a whole. those dropped shout bust a gut to improve enough to get back in. Listening to him I personally don't think Karius will lose self belief if dropped.
Not really - the defence were shocking against Bournemouth and were given little protection from those ahead. The midfield needs to provide more control I feel.
I don't think they made basic GK mistakes. They were bullied, they didn't come for crosses, they were not used to the physicality of the premiership. Things that can be learnt from more experience.
Hmmm..a quick look back on Google shows that De Gea was bad enough that at one point he thought seriously about returning to Spain and according to then goal keeping coach United toyed with the idea of selling him. They dropped him, he put the work in and hey presto.
I think that fans believe that players are shrinking violets and that being dropped will destroy them etc. Mignolet was dropped and that didn't affect him and he came back. Mikhitarian was dropped without any ceremony by Mourinho. He came back. The same with Karius. He may even welcome some specialist training out of the glare of the media.
De Gea problem was in the air. He struggled with the strength of the league with crosses and often stayed on his line which resulted in errors. As a teenager at the time you would expect that problem to happen for someone new to league. Karius cannot save simple or difficult crosses, consistently punches the ball clear instead of retaining it and only shows any confidence when we have the ball in trying to receive it. So as expect we have signed a keeper who is more confident in having the ball but nothing else.
New to the league can be given to Karius too. Punching is a general thing with all keepers now. Watching Karius highlights in the Bundesliga kind of both supports and refutes your claims..or rather what we've seen him do so far in our shirt. yes, he makes outstanding reaction saves from shots but often pushed the ball back in and around the goal mouth..he got away with a few.. Interestingly he looked a LOT braver in position for set pieces and coming out to close down one on ones...which suggests he's not incapable just suffering something mental at the minute or struggling to build his very new relationship with this back 4 (or 7 as it's chopped and changed so much) As I said dropping him might not be a bad thing but he's not as bad going on his Bundesliga displays as his 10 Liverpool ones..
What is our priority - the team, or one player? How many points do we risk dropping whilst a player learns his trade? Common sense dictates that a player comes into the team when he is ready, not before. Learning one's trade often involves making mistakes. We can't afford for someone to be making so many in the first team.
Yes. In all seriousness he's probably not a total loss, but he probably should be benched for awhile and play in reserves.
. Dudek was very unreliable. He'd pull off an amazing save one night and let in two clangers in the next game. Reina was a massive improvement.
It's probably not even a case of making him fight for it, tbh. He just needs the pressure taking off him and some time to work on his game and build confidence.
