Could be just reacting to people saying that he's being a bit off at the moment....hears his name, so wants to show his own enthusiasm for the club. Let's go with that for now. Just shows how there are always several ways to read the same situation.
He comes across as really humble, kinda shy, a little appreciative. And that's very refreshing. Under no illusions that he shall be cherry picked from us at some stage, but at least we can bully the lad to get six months more service from him when it does happen. But seriously, that goal yesterday was worth £10M, easy.
Just caught up on MOTD. I know it was only highlights, but we had a couple more chances...just needed a spot of luck and that Jay chance at the end would be lauded as a well made goal. One day surely things will go our way...luckily didn't matter. Our 11th clean sheet this season...despite a suicidal back pass. Puel does enjoy his goals, doesn't he? Rarity value I guess.
Yeah, we all know that Jay has lost some of that precious pace, but he has been getting into positions to score. Even the back end of last season he was doing it. But some of the chances he hasn't put away have been astonishing! Just shows how important confidence is. With Charlie out, he will know he now has a big chance to cement his place. Really hope he grabs it with both hands!
Having watched a few replays, I am pretty sure that we were the victim of the unwritten law "never give Shane Long a penalty", he looked to be clearly brought down in the area.
That was certainly my clear impression from my vantage point in The Chapel. Shane obviously thought so too.
That's what we all said. Right in front of us and a clear pen. But, the ref thought "Oh, it's Shane. Can't have been one" and played on ......
I'll admit that I haven't seen it on MOTD yet - will try today (spent last night sitting in my useless car in a very dark New Forest, waiting for a recovery truck to find me and take me 'ome. Rounded off a perfect day ....... )
You can only beat what's in front of you and luckily for us, what was in front of us was a load of rubbish. Stunning goal, terrible game, three points. Hmmm.
