The 1.15 at Ffos Las is a very decent looking novices' hurdle for a Monday. Davy Russell is over to rise Jameson for the 11th richest man in Wales and Mr. Henderson, the Welsh trainers are out in force and there are some fancy prices flying around this evening. One price that catches the eye is the 33/1 that Bet 365 are offering on Jonjo's Test Pilot. This Coolmore-owned son of Getaway ran a really eye-catching race on bumper debut at Market Rasen before running green and tiring in the closing stages and finishing 3rd behind Ravenhill Road (subsequent winner). Of course with Jonjo's novices you never know how much the choke will be out but I thought this a big price for a horse which shaped with such promise in his bumper.

The Ffos Las bumper will also be worth watching for the future with some nicely-bred individuals entered.

Rare punting foray for me to Ffos Las where the forum's favourite jockey Davey Russell gets the leg up on a pair of beasts for Mr Dai Walters. In fact I think the pair could well be sharing a whisky or two tomorrow evening ;)

1.15 Ffos Las Jameson 15/8
1.45 Ffos Las West Wizard 5/2

The double comes in at just over 9/1.

The forum's favourite jockey <laugh><laugh> - sounds like someone from the "county set" who harps on continually about the forum's favourite trainer even though most people disagree about Nicky the needle <rofl>

I'll not a hear a bad word about Davey 'the dog' Russell! Give me Davey over Spoofer Cooper any day!

Maybe, but THEOS CHARM has always looked a chaser in the making. Not a novice I would want to be taking on!

Theinval is a 140 horse for me, so if TC takes to this then he will be the one to beat in my book. Hope they are positive on TC and try and run Theinval off the bridle.

Looking forward to this race.

Morning, morning. Good to see a few mentions for JAMESON (1.15 Ffo Las).

This one comes with an interesting back story, by the way, and it goes a little something like this. He won on debut, for the 11th richest man in Wales, when hacking up in a Bangor bumper back in May. That chap, of course, has horses with several barns but when he has a good one he always wants his beast handled by just one man (well frankly who wouldn’t) and so after the race he told Jameson and his then handler, Paul Morgan, ‘this one’s off to the Barrows’. He was then indeed duly slapped on the rump (Jameson not Paul Morgan) and dispatched to Mr Henderson. The 11th richest man in Wales obviously rates Jameson and that, I say that, is good enough a recommendation for me.

Good luck all.

Mr H sends out 5 today, all with chances. Surely not a 5 timer on the cards???

Serious question, people. What do we think will happen re My Tent or Yours’ perch following Saturday’s run?!? At first I couldn’t understand why they were running him as potentially it could have ruined his handicap mark for Newbury’s ultra, ultra , ultra valuble ‘Betfair Hurdle’ in February (note ‘Daddy’ Martin is keeping Moon Racer well away from a racecourse right now for this very reason) but now, running him at the weekend, looks like a touch a genius as the old boy earned almost £28k and is highly unlikely to get raised above the current 155 and may even, in fact, get that figure slightly lowered.

Going into the heat The New One was perched on 158 and My Tent 155. My Tent received 8 lbs and was whalloped by 3.5 lengths – with the term ‘no impression’ used. If My Tent ran to 155 on Saturday (which he almost certainly didn’t) then The New One should be reassessed, in the region of, 167 (which he probably won’t be). All very intriguing and have connections earned £28k and a ratings reduction for My Tent?!?
