Yep, but to add negatives to your positives, Matip ****ed up, Milner's crossing (as with Clyne) was dire, and Mane, who I said was our MOTM, was not as aggressive inside the box as out of it. Same could be said of Windy, who I thought had a decent game - until he too got into the box.
And it seemed that at least half those crosses were floaty, drifting things too - as if we were still playing Carroll and were giving him the service he never got while he was here.
I think Matip was unlucky with the goal, the deflection meant he lost balance and couldn't recover. Maybe he should have adjusted but it happens.
Points of order 1. EVERY corner.. and i mean every one was pathetic again. none beat the first man. it was so dire and predictable we made a game up at home watching it. 2. Crossing.. yes utterly pathetic. 3. mane. can someone please explain to the lad that a red shirt doesn't mean run away form goal and to be direct and actually run at guys again. 4. firmino. play him no 9 or drop him. (and yeah we've no left wing alternative by the look of things)
I said that we can't play at 100mph all the time. We needed time to settle and work out the best pass. From the GK onwards and the defenders it was frenetic. It was like"pass the hot potato". No one could keep the ball for more than half a second. Klopp admitted as much: " we were too excited". Of course we will catch out some teams with our quick fast attack. But if teams come prepared to defend against such tactics, we need to go to a plan B. Edit: this tactic will definitely work against city. Pep is a stubborn git who thinks his pass pass game is so all conquering. Like Leicester showed he is naive and our fast non stop attack will crush City. No doubt.
Interesting points. I felt there were too many wanting to be 20 yards up the pitch like wijnaldum. you need to get to the bye line and drive at players and force challenges not play in front and i just left too many times we didn't do it. however i feel that while origi got his goal firmino is completely ouit of sorts playing left and we need to figure this out THIS week or we will have an awful christmas. I would try firmino right and mane left... OR i would simply drop firmino and move lallana wide right and mane left.. anything to stimulate some sort of change.
did anyone watch live the west ham free kick and say.... oh oh. that wall isn't right as they even set up. There seems to be no communication going on. 4 men in wall was patently not enug then 2 more joined but never made a proper wall and the gap that payet put it through was very obvious. IMO karius never set his wall right at all, stood too far to his side by at least one step and then didn't have a strong hand when he did get to it. IMO it was ****.
Why not try origi and Lallana wings with firmino central until either new winger brought or Coutinho returns.
Because Lallana in the attacking trio has been poor since he joined. He's improved since dropping deeper.
The attack looks a little tired (despite scoring 5 goals in last 2 games). Without their relentless attacking and pressing, the weaknesses of the midfield and defence are exposed.
I honestly cannot see the likes of lloris or Cech not saving this kick. I cannot understand some people here saying it wasn't his fault and he wasn't to blame. I think he is making our defenders nervous and also giving encouragement to the opposition. It may have been mischief making by Bournemouth and that angered Klopp. But I think they did target him as a weakness.
Scoring 3 away from home and 2 at home should equate to 6 points. Couthino is sorely missed, his injury has totally unbalanced the team....going forwards and in defence. I lost count of how many times the ball broke in midfield to a West Ham player in acres of space....because our midfielders were up field doing the pressing. We are very easy to counter attack....get the ball forward quickly and our midfield and full backs are stranded. It's the worst we've played all season and it coincides with Cout's injury. Looks like we have no plan B at all tbh.
de Gea saved a similar free kick vs Spuds, in fact the shot he saved was better. He was in a similar starting position and actually got across and put a strong hand on it.
Stop it.............no two free kicks are ever 'the same'...................EVER. So saying this keeper or that keeper would save this or that shot is ludicrous
He should be doing better. The wall should be doing better. Shouldn't give away silly free kicks in dangerous areas.
