Transfer Rumours Saints January Transfer Window Rumour Thread

I'd like to have said the takeover might put a stop to that, but then Sam McQueen signed his the other day so

 

Possible explanations:

1. He wants to go
2. The contract has been poorly translated
3. We don't like him as much as we pretend
4. He wants to piss off that Saints fan who stopped his dog from drowning - he'd been trying to get rid of the bloody thing for weeks

Pay your money and take your choice. I like 4 as I hate dogs and it would give us a convenient scapegoat when he does go.

 

None of the above for me. I think he'll be here longer. He's quietly good, top six will not be sniffing, we'll get this done soon.

 

I'm not really one to deal in absolutes. Its not utter bullshit because there is always a truth in there but its their own version of it. I agree I wouldnt put him on a guaranteed 100k/wk for an extra year but I'd negotiate something in there based on appearances perhaps. I'm not writing his contract here but basically saying he obviously wants something from the club, if he feels he's being pushed out the door he's not getting it. I don't know enough details to say any more than that.

 

I thought Middlesborough's Young CB, Gibson has looked very promising and had a good game against us yesterday........ Possible target for one of our problem positions?

 

Was he their Number 6? Looked quit good bringing the ball out of defence, I thought. I was frustrated that we kept letting him do that.

Yes he was, good solid young defender who appears to be a decent ball player too. Definitely worth a look as a replacement for Jose in January

 

To be fair, we need one of those quite badly. It's been our weakest position for two seasons.

 

Probably far too expensive for our tastes in January. One, he's quite essential to Middlesbrough's defense, which is quite essential to their survival. Two, he's the nephew of their owner/chairman, so we aren't likely to get him fighting for the move, heh.

Saints had a scout watching Sporting Lisbon centre back Ruben Semedo again this weekend.

 

Surely we have scouts going to games like that every week? Benfica and Sporting are the sort of clubs who would have some very talented players but who we could potentially sign players from due being in the PL. I'm sure we have scouts at a number of games each weekend, perhaps not watching anyone specifically, but gathering more info on all the players.

Romeu is captain material and must be top of the list seeing as VVD is likely to go in the summer and Davis is struggling to get in the first 11.

 

Romeu has a year left so if he doesn't sign he will be gone.
