It all depends on how intelligent you are.

Clearly I don't make enough time to watch TV. Still have the entire Sopranos to watch and all but the first series of House of Cards (US). I haven't even heard of the stuff being discussed on here. Any future time will be reserved for these and the new Twin Peaks.

Brain seized up trying to watch Inception (a very good fillum but nowhere near as good as Memento or Insomnia) again on a flight yesterday, abandoned and sought less demanding stuff in Independence Day 2 or whatever its called, which is utter crap but doesn't require thought. Then caught the final five episodes of Veep, brilliant stuff.

Thanks 999s, just started "The Night Of" last night, four episodes in and totally hooked!

Enjoyed Westworld, but am left thinking WTF after the season finale....

A different take on the AI theme is Humans on Channel.4, you can imagine this happening in the not-too-distant future (robots taking human jobs etc)

Not necessarily. I like it for the reasons I've stated. If the very real and very imminent prospect of sentient AI doesn't interest you then it won't engage you, however well it's rendered.
I totally missed this one. Worth a watch?

Also re. Westworld here's a good breakdown of the finale.

And if you watch Banshee, best change your bedsheets when you get up in the morning. <laugh>

Soft porn, Neo-Nazis, psychotic Native Americans, diamond heists, the Russian mob, the Amish, good girls gone bad, Colombian drug lords, local gangsters, stone cold assassins, rogue military black-ops, serial killers, religious cults, transvestite computer hackers, soccer moms and everybody's an expert in MMA. In just four seasons Banshee literally had everything. I'm sure I've missed some out too.

Humans is brilliant pal, now in the middle of season 2 but you'll get season 1 online somewhere.

    Very quick synopsis, from IMDB....

In a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a 'Synth' - a highly-developed robotic servant that's so similar to a real human it's transforming the way we live.

You can totally see this happening within our lifetime, maybe not quite as human-looking, but still taking all the mundane works out of our lives. In the program, there are a small group of synths who have gained conscious thought too....very though provoking (IMO)...they also ran a documentary prior to the second series where they actually created a "synth" who looked like on of the actors in the show, gave it an AI personality, then it sat on a video link and conducted interviews with the press - convincing some of them that the synth was real!

Sounds good. I'll um acquire over the holidays for a watch.

If AI generally interests you, this article, really long, is worth the read, particularly for the time frames mentioned in terms of when we can expect sentient AI -sometime by mid-century is the most popular forecast - and the potential implications for us a species. As much as I enjoy the current crop of AI related shows, when the singularity happens it will be nothing like most of these. No friendly android like Data with a Pinocchian desire to be human, no resentful Hosts in a theme park but rather a super machine towering above us - way above us - intellectually. A stone cold implacable machine with the power to do anything it wants. Maybe the AI in the 100 is closest in terms of the perils when it simply decides the best way to end human suffering is to end humanity. It's super scary stuff.

Yeah and that's fair enough. It's obviously not everyone's thing. I'm not saying you like them but if I were forced to watch a single episode of Deadenders or Britain's Got Nothing Better To Do On A Saturday Night I'd be sat there with a cocked revolver in my mouth. Different strokes and all that. <ok>

Are you referring to how us Rs supporters have nothing celebrate about every Saturday night because of the drubbing we receive from our opponents at every match??? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Look, I know it's Sci-fi and fantasy and all that, but this one I just can't buy into, the fact that the androids are so human blah blah blah. That's just not my thing, no droid will ever be human enough to make them like us with fluid and blood and guts inside, including sex organs that function properly with fluids for that too? I can't make that leap to enjoy those kinds of shows enough:emoticon-0136-giggl

If you'd actually watched the show - or read the links above regarding the potential of AI - you'd know your entire post relating to it is a nonsense. Come back when you've seen it and talk specifics rather than murmuring vague inanities about sci-fi and sex.

Oh and QPR. The fun is in the journey. Fernandes is a cretin but has nothing like the skeletons your guy has hanging in the closet. You up at Wolves? If not I'll post you a picture of my ticket. Make you feel a bit more at home eh? icon_lol.gif

I'm genuinely interested in the difference. I'll be watching either one anyway but why is the Swedish one better?
