Much better, but still a long way to go. The first half for example was still pretty dire. Boufal my MOTM match, but only because of his goal (it didn't just win the game, it made it easier for us to attack thereafter). Otherwise he'd have been second, behind Jay. I'm not saying that Jay was back to his best, far from it. But that was easily the best I have seen of him since his injury. He looked half decent again. Baby steps, but I can see some light at the end of the tunnel for him at last. Hopefully it's not just a one off though - particularly given that we're down to just him and Long for the rest of this month (and for however long in January until we sign someone, assuming we do). Also thought that Fonte, Clasie and McQueen were very good.
Just enjoying reading everyone's comments and pleased to see postive comments concerning Redmond. Hope he can score soon to get the moaners off his back.
I think you've picked the best well there and Agree MOTM but I'd have Clasie = 2nd. Also Cuco better 2nd half and clean sheet without Oriel having to play out of his skin. JWP improving and good dead ball deliveries
Next time the Northam want to give stick, just chant about the idiot MP for Southampton Itchen instead.
He did. Put a real shift in, kept running and closing their keeper down even when he was knackered. If only he could have buried that chance at the end. It'll come though.
We're only the 2nd team boro have lost to on their travels this season, so I think your outlook may be unnecessarily bleak.
I think he is referring to how we still pass it around the sides and how easily Middlesborough could pass into our CM and attack from there on the break. Good result, 3 points but they could've been a couple ahead at half time.
JRod ran his socks off for you lot today, very unlucky not to score, and there are signs that some of his pace is coming back and he was less tentative in the tackle, was fouled a few times too nothing given. When he finally gets a goal he will surely go on and get some more. I thought the Boro defence was one of the best I have seen this season, they will be gutted that one lapse cost them. We know how that feels do we not?
Thought the fans were pretty **** today, not much support once again to be honest with you ... you'd have thought we'd lose where I was sat at FT! thought we had a good second half - Redmond, Rodriguez and Boufal seemed to work as a front 3. I was impressed, and this doesn't happen too often, with Clasie today and though JRod looked sharp. Overall, a good base to build on, in my opinion! It wasn't too bad a performance second half, we just couldn't convert.
I thought it was an inspired substitution bringing Long on for Clasie btw. I'm sure loads of us thought Claude had gone nuts sacrificing a defensive midfielder, but Long gave us an outlet which took the pressure right off. Good call imo.
You're being a tad over dramatic. I some people are looking at JRod with rose tinted glasses. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't anywhere near being our best player today. He worked his socks of, but so did Prowse. Long offered better runs when he came on, didn't stop people moaning around me about him though. Same goes for Redmond, no matter what he did, it wasn't good enough. His link up play with Boufal was brilliant. Could have had more goals, but we need to improve our passing in the middle. Slow, pedestrian and caught in possession a few times. I some times feel we want to take one more chance instead of taking a more risky ball. Davis made some decent runs when he came on.
for God's sake if Jay was crap and too slow the manager would play someone else - he had a good game today - his first 90 minutes and not his last! there's more in football than running fast (otherwise Man Utd would have signed Bolt!)
Constantly rotated side, 6 games in Europe and into a Semi Final. there was always going to be a drop off.
