Bit late to this thread but sounds like everyone is getting along pretty nicely.

Think Sunderland are building a really good team, and as much as you having an ex Manc in charge and signing half of their subs bench does not sit well with me, think you've made really really smart signings.

Both teams will have unfamiliar line-ups, but i think Sunderland will suffer from that more as they are playing away. I also think you have brought in both youth and experience, and that will take more time to blend than the players we've signed, as they've generally been brought in to get the best of Carroll who has been here since Jan. Basically ours are specific parts whereas i think you've really transformed the direction of your side.

Expect Gyan to be a pain and get a goal, but we were very strong against Valencia and think we will take it 3-1. If that happens though i wouldn't take it as an indicator for the season, just an unfortunate first fixture for you lot. Good luck anyway, have a lot for time for your club!

That's what I expect us to line up like. We are desperate for a LW as Richardson is too inconsistent and our weak link in midfield. Personally I'd be happy with a point but I wouldn't rule out a shock win for us. Obviously it's going to be a very tough game for us and we're the underdogs but as mentioned above Suarez and Gerrard won't start and this is an opportunity for us to snatch some points.

And this is a top thread btw Syd. It's the only thing this site lacked that BBC 606 had, being able to have a thread on multiple boards. Good quality banter lads

 

There is an outside chance that Suarez may be named on the bench but certainly Gerrard won't be in the squad. But this is our first home game of the season and I expect that the team will be well up for it - especially after the Valencia performance.

 

You've got to remember that it's Sunderland you're dealing with now though...
