Shane can run, but Jay seems to be able to get in better positions. I would say they are about equal.
I feel with Jay it really is about getting that goal. I know he isn't miles from what he was but today I thought he showed some nice touches, got in good positions and I would say deserves to start at Stoke.
So now we just have to go and do the business on a cold, windy, Wednesday night at Stoke and we could be hovering around the 7th position mark.
I still think he's carrying some sort of knock but has to keep playing because McCarthy is injured and Taylor is, well, Taylor. While this was another dull game there were some positives and I don't just mean the three points. I'd like to see a return to 4-2-3-1 with Tadic and Boufal playing in wide areas with Austin (or a new striker) in the middle and an attacking midfielder capable of scoring goals playing off him. Romeu and Hojbjerg as the two DMs. On today's evidence Redmond may be a decent option to come off the bench and run at tiring defences.
well I only saw the second half - and we looked pretty good - the only player I didn't see much of was McQueen?
That'll do. Didn't see any of the game but a much needed win. Didn't sound pretty, and probably was never going to be. Can Sofiane pick up an 'injury' in the last minute of the 1st Liverpool game please? 2 tough away games coming up.
I thought that Jay playing the whole 90 minutes was a huge positive and on another day he could've had a hatrick. his closing down was tireless today. Jose played as though his head is still very much here and Redmond made a real impact off of the bench. We have a real match winner in Boufal who can make something out of nothing a la Matty. JWP needs some coaching on his composure in the box because he has the knack of getting in great goal scoring positions. I would've taken a scrappy 1-0 win before the game to get the season back on track, we now need to get some results on the road.
Needed that win badly. Another stunner from Boufal. However it is still concerning we are relying on these moments of brilliance to beat Middlesbrough at home. We have to score more goals.
Well TFFT. Some pressure taken off everyone. But we have some fans who really need to stop expecting us to steam roller our way through this season. We are a different team now, there's going to be more adjustments coming up, Claude is going manage in a way that suits him, and as frustrating as that may be, we have to get on board. Thursday was tough to take, HBS were there for the taking and our negativity cost us, but I cold understand the decisions that were taken. If we let our expectations slide in front of our support, we'll probably get more Hull results than Boro ones. 20 points is a nice platform, but don't start dreaming of top six just yet.
I would have all our full backs on crossing training. The number of times Cedric, Bertrand, McQueen etc cross for the ball to go behind the goal is crazy.
