Yep, best game was Elite or Footbal Manager, maybe The Hobbit or Lords of Winter. To think I paid £100 back in the 80s.

Same, I still have mine in a box in France somewhere with a few of the old games, **** knows where to get a cassette player and the cable you need for it though.

Some of the games on it were better than these ****ty new Xbox games.

My first computer. You could plug the cartridges straight in and the games would start straight away. No sitting around waiting on cassettes screeching and psychedelic screen displays for me!

I had the Atari 2600 which was great as the joysticks could also be used with the Commodore Vic 20 and later 64. If someone came round to play video games and they still had an Atari Joystick you knew they were good.

I sometimes play old games online, just for the nostalgia. When I was a kid I used to be brilliant at Donkey Kong. Tried it recently - tried about a dozen times and couldn't get beyond level 3. Used to be able to do it in my sleep. God, I'm getting old!

I bought a Commodore 64 with my first student grant* in 1983.

*If there's any youngsters watching, ask an adult to explain what a student grant is.
