seems a good idea. as long as this aint used to cause more divisions between the club and fans if that makes sense.

    Copied from the Independent Forum:

'........................... the mooted independent supporters club is going to be called Bristol Rovers Independent Supporters Association. We feel that this differentiates the new association from the official supporters club, as well as reflecting its status as an unincorporated association. You'll probably see people referring to it as BRISA.

BRISA is not open for membership yet, with permission to hold personal details from the ICO still pending, as well as impending holidays from some involved in the set-up meaning that a slight delay before the official launch makes sense.

BRISA will launch with a proper constitution, as well as a set list of aims and campaigns, mainly including a desire for better communication from the board, greater recognition for the money contributed by the fans and of course, a complete review of the club from top to bottom, in order to recognise exactly how the club fell to its lowest ebb.

There will be two tiers of membership, with associate membership being free of charge, allowing supporters to sign up as a supporter of our aims and campaigns. Full membership will cost a small fee and go towards running costs etc, with any profit from membership or merchandise going towards a nominated cause (the club's community department at first, though this is open for discussion). Full membership will also have a range of other benefits, including the right to stand for election to the committee and vote on policy etc.

A poll on this forum currently indicates that well over a hundred forum members would sign up to an independent supporters association, and shows that the appetite is there for an independent voice campaigning on behalf of fans. Hopefully the pending launch at some point in June will prove popular and show that Gasheads are united in their demands for change to improve the fortunes of Bristol Rovers Football Club.

It should be pointed out that although those behind BRISA remain disappointed in the actions of the club's board of directors in allowing us to fall to our current position, we are not campaigning for board resignations or other drastic action. At this moment, we believe that the best method for fans to effect change is to campaign for improved governance of the club, with a united fanbase forcing the owners of the club to take notice and act.

You can follow BRISA on twitter here: https://twitter.com/BRFC_ISA
You can email BRISA here: [email protected]

A website is currently under construction, to be launched at the same time as BRISA starts accepting membership.'

My only reservation is that they 'are not campaigning for board resignation or other drastic action'

In that case, apart from personnel, they may as well be the SC!

think it has something to do with supporters having little faith in the main BRSC. An example, the BRSC would like to have their EGM in July as there is obviously nothing very urgent to discuss. It may also be to do with the representatives and their influnece and the clarity/transparency of information coming from Board meetings they attend.

I will be joining the Indie ! Always liked Indie music anyway:smiley:

I think some in the group would want changes on the board, but without a chance to have a Q & A with the board we could jump to conclusions to quickly about who has or hasn't been pulling their wait. You'd think after the last 4 seasons the board themselves would realise some changes are needed and there are also board members who have been there for well over 20 years more than your average Blair or Thatcher even stayed in power and we all know what damage they did to our country by staying on their thrones for so long !!!

I think the club should be set up as a Trust anyway - with fans having a much bigger say. It's getting to the point where the board won't have much clout anyway and if the fans want a bigger part to play there has never been a better time. If we don't go up in the first season this will get even easier to do.

A few years ago there was similar feelings about a gas trust. I attended a meeting when a bloke came down from Northampton to explain what they had done.
Not sure why this was not progressed at the time
