Agree about St Ives. Was where my wife and I first went on holiday together. Hired a car and went with three other couples. The 4 lads went for a run in the morning which only took us round the corner to where we were staying and the arcades and then after roughly an hour we took turns to leave and stagger back to the apartment in one minute intervals. We got rumbled in the second week when the women actually bothered to get up one morning and went shopping to find the four of us all playing pinball in one of the arcades.
I'm planning to get up to the sister in law's caravan in Beadnell at the end of the month. Normally manage two or three times a year but haven't been up for a while. To be honest after spending years p!ssing about in airports with my job I can't be arsed any more, that's why I love the tranquillity of the North East coast and The Ship Inn at Low Newton.
Any of you boys done an open air opera in Italy yet? My uncle is a massive opera fan and as ex chief exec of DCC has met Queens, princess Di, Tutu, Mandela and **** loads of other top folk so is a cultured chap. He's almost living in La Scala in Milan these days living his dream. He's started to get me into opera now and has suggested I get myself over to Italy... more pertinently an open air performance of one of Puccini's classics.
No, but I have A. Seen Aida at the Covent Garden. Supposed to be in English but only understood one phrase in the entire Opera being " come here. Also watched someone having a heart attack being shushed by others in the audience. Have to say the Opera crew didn't come across as my type of crew. B. Stood outside La Scala in Mlan. Do like Gilbert and Sullivan though but ages since I went to see a performance.
Bali in a months time for 4days but thats really like going to Whitley Bay for you lot ..... well if Whitley Bay now has cool bar/lounges in the beach, surfing, great restaurants and stunning Hindu temples. Its a while since Ive been to Whitley Bay so dont know how its changed.
I love the beach at Bamburgh and the Ship Inn is great, Jolly fisherman at Craster is good too but gets very busy, if you are out and about the Cook and Barker at Newton On The Moor is good, south of Alnwick on the A1, I will be at home in Northumberland as usual looking after me mam, maybe a trip over to Ireland in September to catch up with friends and family there.
I love walking my cocker spaniel on the beach at Whitley Bay during the summer, its a beautiful walk.
The Northumberland coastline is beautiful. Some wonderful places up there. Inland, down by the river Tyne at Hexham is nice as well, watching the rowers up and down the river.
As much as I like walking with the dog, I do enjoy the pubs as well. I've got my favourite up near Hexham, cracking little boozer.
Agree, lovely area and apparently the glow will be especially bright and warm this summer, so a good place to go.
Just today booked Benidorm for April 2018. Staying in the Sol Pelicarnos where they film the TV show.
I've never had a dog and probably never will but cocker spaniels are my favourite breed as the few I've come across seem to be the happiest dogs on the planet.
