We all like to make a lot of predictions before and during the season, so thought we could have a thread where we can state our own personal right and wrong predictions from this season. Please note: This is to state yours and yours only. Not for having a pop at other posters. Also it's only for a laugh, no proof etc. required. My rights: -Arsenal won't get top 4. -Liverpool will get top 4. -Burnley will stay up. -Brighton will get promoted. My wrongs: -Spurs will be worse than last year. -Because we're in the Europa League I reckon we'll sack off the League cup early doors -Leicester won't be competing for top 4 again but will be comfortably top half. -Sunderland will improve massively this year under Moyes and I expect them to be comfortable in lower mid table Let's hear some of yours... thinking of the rights was harder than I thought
My rights Liverpool will not win the league UTD will win more silverware than any other club this season My wrongs Chavs will not win the league ££££ or UTD would win the league HIAG would stop trying to WUM
Everyone must have got Hull's relegation right, though probably not the manner of it. Their build up to the campaign was an absolute farce and they looked a total banker for going down. Then they beat the champions on the opening day! Didn't see that coming. I got the top six right, but the order completely wrong. I got Dele Alli's retention of YPOTS right, but I thought Ibrahimovic would win the senior version. I had Chelsea and Liverpool down for the FA and League cups, so I was close but wrong. I picked Man Utd to win the Europa League, but I thought Barca would win the Champions League. Kante for signing of the season, but that an obvious choice.
Yeah the Kante and Hull ones were pretty obvious. Reason why I didn't include saying Boro would go down as they don't score enough goals. You have reminded me of another of mine though, I said the top 7 would again be the 'traditional' top 7 this season. Though I didn't quite expect the gap from Everton and the rest to be as big as it was. But then I also thought we were nailed on for bottom half, think it might have been you who disagreed with me at the time?
I remember that Saying that, a lot of people have said that every Summer since Poch left, if they keep doing it they'll probably be right eventually
Right - Fraudiola would get found out in this league. Wrong - Jose wouldn't give youth a chance. Wrong - Conte would have a meltdown Wrong - Leics would finish top half
great thread Lieb..lets see who is honest enough My rights: Money and wages will do the talking as usual Kane will have another barnstormer Spurs have the potential to crack top 4 Pogba wont be playing like the world's most expensive player Spurs should have purchased Mane Pool will be an exciting team to watch My wrongs: Spurs to finish 6th at best because they dont have the squad depth thanks to the money and wages Leicester to be comfortable top half Pep to have a meltdown and leave because PL teams wont bend over for him Leicester to have a statue of Ranieri erected outside the stadium and a stand to be named after him
I was another one who said Pogba wouldn't be all that, never seen anything of him to justify that sort of money. I also along with Tel expected Pep to struggle.
I don't think he ever will. He has shown snippets of talent..however i thought breaking world records would mean you are a bit more consistent. He assisted a goal for United in their last league game v Palace. With the outside of the foot, it traveled two thirds of the pitch with a sublime curve on it. that was a mad assist i enjoyed watching it.
Right: Pep would struggle Pogba would flop Maureen would have several meltdowns Wrong: Arsenal would get top 4 Conte would struggle
Right : - Kane to score another 20+ PL goals. Wrong : - Jose and Pep to spend/tictacs everyone else into oblivion in the PL - Spurs to finish top 4 - Leicester PL campaign
Wrongs; City to win the league Arsenal to finish 2nd or 3rd Liverpool to finish 5th Everton to finish 10th Rights; Saints to regret not buying a striker Leicester to do pretty well in the CL Sunderland and Newcastle to swap places
Right - The teams that would finish top six - Spurs and City finish top four - Sunderland and Hull go down - The Allam family made Hull an utter trainwreck Wrong - The order of the top six - Arsenal and Man Utd to finish in the top four - Palace to go down - Bayern win the Champions League - Sevilla win the Europa League after finishing third in their CL group - Everton for the FA Cup - Chelsea for the League Cup - Aguero top scorer (which I seem to pick every season...) - Sanchez POTS - Rashford YPOTS - Sane the signing of the season For the top six/POTS I thought we'd have a repeat of 2011/12 where they'd have a late rally with Sanchez replicating van Persie's form that season to pip Chelsea to fourth.
My predictions from a thread we done on the Spurs board before the start of the season. Some epic fails in there although one or two good shouts.
My preseason predictions are famous for being wrong every year, so I wont dwell on what is wrong. I am usually surprised if I get anything right. For me the biggest thing I didn't see, was the decline of counter-attacking as a good tactic. I guess the success of Leicester the previous year, meant that every larger club, even Arsenal by the end of the season, had adopted a system that protected them from teams giving up 70% of possession and just counter-attacking. The success of that change showed in the 29 point gap between 5th and 8th. I wonder if we really are now seeing a two tier league developing.
