I love Adel as much as the next guy,but these threads are getting ridiculous. We was out of this world when he played for us,but those days are long gone. He;s not right in the head and more often than not,not right in the body. Calls for us to get him back are ludicrous,it's like Spurs wanting Gazza back. While I acknowledge that all geniuses are tinged with madness,we have to move on. For the first time in years we have a settled squad with the emphasis on younger players who are hungry and WANT to play for the shirt,Adel couldn't wait to get away. Hopefully one or more of the current side can provide us with some new Adel like moments !
Oh goodie goodie gum drops, another Abdul Terrorbat thread. He was great for one season? Check. He's a great footballer, but doesn't apply himself? Check. Warnock got the best out of him? Check. Redknapp never liked him? Check. What do Americans call a tick? Check.
Vast majority aren't criticising him, but, more sad at the way he has not fulfilled his enormous potential
It's not a proper Adel thread until we have a meltdown so lets just be done with it... Uber, you call me a nasty fish breath and then 9's can ban me for a week! Job done
I actually think that a return to a club that loved him could be what he needs - psychologically speaking. Sadly though, I'm with most of the rest of you - I wouldn't want him back
Unfortunately, Adel is the only one who can help himself. Now he may start to understand what he has thrown away over the years. Often in life, you reap what you sow.
Would love to see a Hollywood ending to this sorry saga. Former bad boy finds some humility, regains some of former skill and helps Wycombe Wonderers to two successive promotions. Sadly I cannot see it happening.
By putting up this thread I was not critical but terribly sad. I am luckier than most. He is not the most talented players I have seen at HQ....Rodney was as good...and Stan was better , Stan was the man! However Adel is the only player with that level of audacious skill we have had in the last 20 years. And yes he (and Colin) took a team of hard working good professionals and made them Championship winners. I love him for that. But since then....it has been so sad. He has been badly sdvised, he has wasted his talents....it is all so sad. I truly would like a fairy tale ending to this. I hope a floundering French team come for him and he turns them into League Champions who beat PSG in their cup final...I truly do.
He's probably been well advised, Vernon, but chose to ignore it all on account of the fact that he always knows better.
And also cheap....because he would never play in a JFH team....where the no 10......(Chery) and the lone striker (BFG) both defend from the front and tackle back all the time. Adel can't and wouldn't do that
