After the Arsenal and PSG results it got me wondering about the worst defeat your club has had.
It doesn't have to be a massive 8 or 9 nil loss but a result which was truely gutting.
For me it was in Feb 2004.
3 nil up at ht against Manchester City in the fa cup. Barton got himself sent off during ht. And we managed to lose 4-3 with city scoring 4 goals with 10 men in second half.
So fess up...what's your 90 mins of hell?

When we were 3 up against United at the Lane and lost 5-3.

When I was a Wigan fan it was when Spurs beat us 9-1 at their place it was only 1-0 at half time...that was a right tonking.

Losing on penalties in Moscow to United especially painful at the time as we had done enough to win. It's a ****hole to come back from with dampened spirits. :(

3-0 up at half time to Wolves when we were in the prem in 2003/4 and lost 4-3.
Also Watford in the play off defeat in 2013.
In terms of big defeats, I forget the year, think it was 2010 as I had just started uni but 6-1 to Portsmouth

Sevilla in the Europey final, we were terrible in that 2nd half, no effort, no fight I don't recall a Liverpool team going out with a whimper like that. I had a meltdown and created my own website to sulk on.

Been loads ...biggest emotional rollercoaster was being 3 - 0 down to Swindon in the ply off final at Wembley...getting it back to 3 - 3 only for the ref to award Swindon a final minute penalty after our goalie came out and punched a last minute hail mary ball into our box knocking their centre forward off his feet in the process ... 99% of the time the goalie gets a free kick in those challengers...

    That was ****ing horrible.

They didn't even score their first until the 72nd minute I think. 4 goals in 17 minutes :(

I'd argue 4-1 against the skates in our relegation season was worse though!

I'd add that while we're talking about throwing away 3-0 leads then those who went to Tranmere in the FA Cup would probably place that pretty high <laugh>

It was painful when the bastards beat us by the same score in the fa cup in our first year in league 1. To think of all players Jamie o'hara ran riot that day

...and the season before ...particularly as we went on to pick up a rather splendid, if elusive, tin pot that only an elite few have ever won ...:)

    PS Not your lot :)

3-0 at home to the Dippers when Moyes was "in charge". Gerrard even missed a penalty.

The opposition never get penalties at OT. The Dippers got three that day.

We lost 5-0 at St James's Park in the mid 90s. Bizarrely I can remember sitting in a pub in god's own city and telling my mate before the game that I had a feeling we were going to lose heavily.

That FA Cup tie wasn't so bad really. We were 2 divisions below them, which in itself was horrible, but no one really expected us to win. The atmosphere was intense and for the first 60 minutes the impossible seemed on, and didn't Rickie equalise after we went 1 down? Losing to them in the PL was far worse. Even coming away with a draw at St Marys in the Championship after leading with minutes to go was worse - having to hear the thick ****ing mutants singing like they'd won the league. Horrible.

Losing 6-1 at Highbury about 2 weeks before we were due to play Arsenal in the Cup Final at Cardiff; that was pure misery. Closest I've ever come to leaving a ground at half time, & the Cardiff dream died there really.

Losing to Liverpool by the same score line at St Marys in the League Cup last season was horrible too. But revenge this season was sweet.

****, there's been loads. Something possessed me to go to Sellhurst Park this season. Palace were utter, utter ****, and we lost 3-0. And you can't see about a quarter of the pitch from the visitors end.

    Not going to add anymore...
