Following on from Smug's thread last night I thought I'd do this one.
What jobs have you done from leaving school to now?
Apart from my forces days I've been a warehouse hand, forestry worker, machine operator, moulding machine fitter.
At present I'm full time carer for my mum who has severe arthritis.

What have you lot been up to?

I started out in the warehouse at Brian Mills and worked there for 8 years..This was probably the happiest working days of my life..I absolutely loved it and made scores of life long friends..There was over 4,000 people worked there with only 600 or so being male..This probably explains why I liked it so much.

After that I trained up to be a glassblower/lamp worker, and spent 4 years or so making glass ornaments.

I then worked for a tool hire company for about 5 years which I didn't like at all.

I have since worked at the University of Sunderland for the past 23 years, working in various roles with the last 5 years as a manager..

I really don't know Billy...I do remember my very first day, I was told by the guy at the gate house to go down to the test area as a big meeting was taking place...
I got there to see a big show of hands and I just found myself on strike for a week....welcome to the wonderful world of work
