Jose, love him or hate him but he does get things done at a cost. Jose has spent one year at Utd cutting away all the dead wood now he is left with just a pruning job. Having spent £145 million Utd finished only 6th having finished 5th the year before under the Dutch Pappa Smurf.

In a bid to at least match his predecessor he has spent another £135 million so far and if rumours are to be believed he has at least another £100+ million at his disposal. Certainly a pruning job that Alan Titmarsh would be proud of.

As with all the major clubs in the Premiership United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal don't complete for the league title or champions league it's a tragedy as the expectations are immense. A point well made by Antonio Conte in a recent press conference. Which is why the strongest teams are making themselves stronger because this is the situation.

So the question is how long will Jose get should the fortunes of United not match these expectations?

I don't think he'll get the sack if we finish 6th after a tough battle for top 4, but if we only scrape 6th then he probably will and deservedly so.

Hoping for us to finish 6th like you are won't make it happen mind.

I'm not hoping anything Tel, merely testing the opinion of the United following.

Would you want to sack Conte if you only manage 6th? He's not had to manage Chelsea with European football to contend with, the fixtures will be thicker and faster next season, less recovery time, the target on your back is much bigger this season too, plus your best striker is probably leaving... touch and go.

Personally, no but Conte is not likely to rub people up the wrong way. Jose a great manager but he has some very bad baggage.

I imagine they'll do well this year but if they finish out of top 3 then he's gone imo.

No, but we wont get a say in the matter.
Roman's axe will be swung if Conte finished lower than 3rd I reckon.

If Jose finishes 6th he would, and probably should, get sacked, with the squad he has assembled.

Obviously not personally Ginge... you're not the Chairman of Chelsea.

Conte has a meltdown in him, he's a passionate as they get and if things start to go against him anything can happen.

A club of Utd's size expects a lot more than 6th place.

If that's where they finish, he won't have too many complaints if he gets the tin-tac

He has a reputation for that and apparantly he was super feisty in the UK.

However even when things were going to **** last season and he was favourite for the sacking we never saw this side in the Media although obviously we can see who has a disciplinarian side to him (see costa).

As for anything below 3rd Roman being roman will sack him unless he wins a CL.

Anything below top 4 for Jose i imagine he will go. I don't think its going to happen though as Jose has a great 2nd season record (league title everytime!) although Conte has 4 league titles in a row (specialist in flat track bullying).

Fancy one of Chelsea United or City to win the league this season

City have to be seen as the favourites imo, as their squad looks like it will just rain goals.

Daft question really. If we end up 6th then yes, course he will.

The big question really is if we don't compete for the league will he? Say, if we finish 3rd will he?

I doubt it, as long as we have competed well until the end of the season and it's a close run thing. Nor will I expect any 'meltdown' if that happens.

I was thinking Jose melting down, as has been suggested he inevitably will, but yeah, wonder where that mad head is?

Sitting in his mama's basement drinking whiskey and tugging over his LvG posters claiming that its not fair and that he should have been given more time......probably

Funny how he disappeared when it finally became glaringly obvious that van Gaal was the massive fake the rest of us knew he was.

The rest of us being morons obviously, as we stupidly paid to go and watch the ****e that van Gaal offered up once in a while.
