Straight swap for Mahrez might seal it. We could also give them a few million in cash if they feel short changed.
... gonna have to disagree with you on this one buddy... Mahrez now has 2 or 3 players up against him every time he has the ball and the rest of ours just tend to stand there with a 'go on then - do something special attitude' ... he's still our most creative plyaer by far .. got plenty just knocking it on blindly without any thought - he at least tries to control it and do something ... I'd move him inside as a number 10 .. also think Leo should get a run out ... he does hold on to the ball ...
The comment was made with a small amount of tongue in cheek. Saying that, I still think Mahrez could buck his ideas up and at least make a little bit of effort when he doesn't have the ball. When you're in a scrap, which we most definitely are, you need everyone making the biggest contribution they can, and actually running to close someone down or showing a glimmer of determination is the least any player can do. If we had a Roy Keane type of captain he would be left in no doubt as to what is required of him.
Can't deny he was excellent going forward. The touches for the first and especially the third goals were perfection. But he was still absolutely woeful without the ball. He leaves us so exposed down our right side and better teams will punish us. He doesn't have to make challenges (which he tries to avoid at all costs). He just has to look round to see who is free, run and close down. But he just makes no effort and that will continue to cost us, and that is why he will never be a great player.
... don't get that ..he put himself about yesterday as much as he can with his stature (and picked up a booking in doing it) ...as to never being a great player? ...do you mean like those rugged tacklers Messi and Ozil?
Thought he did ok yesterday - back to more of his old self. He will never be great defensively, which is why we need a right back who defends, rather than an attacking threat at right back. Simpson does that for us (most of the time anyway). Fuchs can move forward more cos Albrighton will provide cover for him. Good to see King score, with a nice lay off by Slimani - but those 2 layoffs by Mahrez for the goals were world class.
Like I said, he doesn't have to tackle but he does have to close down and bloody well do it with a bit more speed and determination. In a team it has to be everyone doing their best and no passengers. Surely not too much to ask for £100k per week? Just hate the complacent attitude.
This thread is suppose to be about if we sign Ndidi in the window! So has anyone got any news about this
Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur took to Twitter today to confirm: please log in to view this image The deal is expected to be announced soon, once Ndidi receives his work permit.

Why is it that our performances should be so dependent on having a Kante type of player? Would a change of formation or style of play have helped? It seems like all our eggs are in one basket.
But remember that particular 'basket' actually won the Premier League so it must be worth trying to get it working again? If we can't then I agree we need to try something else, but I have confidence that Ranieri can come up with the goods. His subs have turned games around many times (even if we have not always gone on to win them) and that's not something you can say about any of our other recent managers.
We don't play a pressing game and Kante is the best presser maybe of all time - never released how good he was until he was gone. Changing formations might help e.g. a 5-3-2 means we have more men in our own half and cutting down space through numbers rather then pressing but that would mean we would be more ineffectual attacking wise as we would be inviting pressure from the opposition deep in our half and have less numbers up front to attack with.
Chelsea play with only one striker - Costa, as do Man City - Aguero, as do Arsenal - Sanchez or Giroud. They don't seem to have any problems in attacking. What they have is the ability to break in numbers from midfield or with their full backs/wing backs and have the ability to keep the ball.
That they do - we don't. If we spent as much as Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal maybe we'd have the personnel to do so but we don't - our previous tactic didn't do that badly last year but like you mentioned before, it was defendant on an individual who is the best in the world at what he does.
