    I predicted Villa & Wurzels last time<doh>

This time I'll go for: Forest (B'ham as 2nd choice)

Nin - going to hang on a bit until we get a crop of the July transfers through. At the moment I like the look of Fulham but you could hardly call them "dark horses" after the way they finished last season.

Without wanting to be the kiss of death for City, I must say that I think the bookies putting us to finish down in 14th place is a load of bollucks.

If Warnock gets a couple of quality midfielders in, I can see us a serious candidiate for dark horse nomination. <ok>

    Wassamatta - can't a woman change her mind?.....<laugh>

My optimism has improved this past month with the acquisition of Callum Patterson and Ward in particular, together with the retention of Harris and Manga for another 2 years.

Camp, Etheridge and Mendez-Laing are all positive pieces of the the jigsaw too, but whatever our past opinions of them, the departure of Whitts and Huws has left a hole in midfield into which Warnock needs to insert some class and pace.

I won't bestow this season's "dark horse" mantle on City until I see what Warnock does about our midfield lineup. If we start the season with what we've got we'll struggle. We might make it difficult for lot of teams but we won't beat many either.

Sparky Huws is sh!t. Unlike previous expensive mistakes he's walked away and we are able to bring in a replacement.

Whitts needs replacing and I'm sure Warnock will get someone in.

Huws was hopelessly outclassed in that game v Fulham. We need far better than him.

Nin - hardly dark horses pal. Wolves are now down as one of the favourites for a top 6 slot by the bookies.

The two lots of Chinese owners owning them and Villa right next door to each other are going to push this as a personal competition this season. Lambert and Bruce are both good managers and are got the financial backing they need to compete at the top. Didn't Wolves just spend £15M on a player?

If we're talking about a genuine dark horse for a top 6 spot like last season, then I'm going to stick my neck out and back City. I like the way Warnock has quietly gone about his business with the likes of Paterson, Ward and Tomlin coming in - and not for big money either.

If he gets us clicking from the start instead of half way through the season playing catch up, I can even see us challenging for the top 2.

    How's that Hilts?..........<laugh>

I think Lambert is currently "resting". Wolves current head coach is one Nuno Espirito Santo - No I've not heard of him before either. Hence Wolves recent Portuguese acquisitions.

<doh>..........you're right Bluey - forgot the new Chinese owners at Wolves had brought in that foreign bloke to replace Lambert.

That must explain that 15 million quid buy of that Portuguese player recently.

Foreign managers might be a weak link in this division. Seen it before.

Bruce is a different kettle of fish. I seem to recall him getting promoted against us. Would settle for the same scenario......

Wolves- Spent big money last year and got nowhere, a squad is more than 2 players remember.
Sunderland- Can' see it for them this season if i'm honest, especially with the recruitment of Simon Grayson as their manager.
Hull- Not Really a dark-horse but i'm not really sure what to make of their manager, good squad though and they should go up if they keep their quality players.
Villarse- Can't see them going anywhere for the foreseeable future, spending big but finishing mid table is a recipe for disaster and i think Bruce's negative football will not serve them well.
Sheff Utd- Good team and did well last season and i for one am glad they're back where they deserve to be, can see a play off finish for them next season with a semi final clash with Wednesday.
Boro-Will be a definite threat if they can get a decent manager in
Cardiff- Might be slightly biased however with Neil Warnock going for his 8th record breaking promotion and the squad we have for the season ahead i can see us doing something special and maybe getting automatics, think it could come down to us and Fulham (who remind me a lot of us in the Dave Jones era with their playstyle) come May 2018 for the title.

Did you get commission for that sparkey?

Just looked at the first five games. A tough start but fancy 11 points from that lot.

I was thinking 10 points would be a nice return on the first five games.

Surely we must look higher than 10 or 11 points although 11 = 3 wins and 2 draws so I suppose that's not bad. I would prefer us to aim for 12!!!

10-12 would be a solid start. 3 wins and 2 draws is where my head was.

Averaging 2 points a game is always the benchmark for promotion.
