    On the evil front... I think I would go for chairman Mao. I have a love hate relationship will all things Chinese.. so would be interesting to hear his version of despotism

    Yes he was an evil bastard and I am not sure the benefit outweighed the pain he inflicted.

    Sadly what he started...... the oppression of all minorities and the annexation of Tibet and other regions... is being played out today by a similarly repressive regime....

    We could have been Neighbours I've moved to Birchington. Talking of writing Mr Dickins lived down that way too in Broadstairs.

    Just started Knifes Edge, looking forward to more of Winfreth's investigations to enhance my holiday.

    Walked to Birchington a few times! I think you can visit Dickens' house in Broadstairs. He had a writing desk with a great view looking out over the sea. Hope you enjoy 'The Knife Edge'...I'm 13,000 words into the next one now.
