  3. I think the amount of money spent will be dependent upon the desperation to compete for top 4 and save the manager's ass.

Naturally, that probably means that United will spend the most, since they tick both boxes with a Desperation Factor of Defcon One.

I think Arsenal could well be next in the list, depending on whether or not Sanchez and Ozil leave. If Wenger leaves, that will also trigger a spend-fest, since anyone coming into that club will have made it crystal clear that the club is going nowhere with its current squad.

£ity and Chelsea will always be up there, somewhere, since they always have money to burn regardless as to whether or not they actually need to.

Spurs - I hope we do spend some money, but I would rather keep hold of the players we have (apart from Sissoko). I'd be happy with keeping Alli, Kane, Walker and Rose, and then adding another CB (£10m-£20m), a pacey LW/RW (£30m), and another striker (£30m). I doubt, however, that Levy will pay out upwards of £80m without selling to balance the books, especially with the new stadium to pay for.

Wasn't that almost exactly what he spent trying to buy an entire squad to replace Gareth Bale?

I don't think Levy minds spending money, so long as he thinks he'll get a return. With Pochettino at the helm, he will.

If spurs can offer enough in wages to persuade their rising stars to stay another season or two, they'll be in a strong position to keep building on pretty solid foundations. If they lose their manager, key players will follow and they'll be ****ed.

Levy will spend the money providing he gets in in first in sales. He certainly won't shell out that amount of money out of the clubs money. They have a one time chance to join the big clubs but it will need world class players to to that. Will he pay £50 million for a player they need and the wages to secure personal terms?

    The **** he will.

  8. For this thread, I think we're looking purely at the monies actually laid out, regardless as to how the monies are paid (ie. whether from sales of players, bank loans, Sky profits, or dodgy off-shore bank accounts).

    It'll be City obviously.

Followed by United, Chelsea, the RS, Arsenal and Everton

Spuds are skint with Levy in hock to pay day lenders for the next load of bricks <ok>

Depends where Griezmann goes, and more so Neymar if he ends up for sale.

United or Chelsea is my guess for who spends the most.

And with that, we'd probably just get Adam, Downing and Carroll back!

Doesnt really matter how much Liverpool spend, since their scouts are incompetent.
They will probably spend £100m and come back with Sissoko (bought from Spurs for a knockdown price of £35m), Jermain Defoe (a steal from Sunderland for £10m), and then pay £50 odd million for whatever youngster has had a one season wonder at Southampton. <ok>
