According to the bbc and south argus, we have made an official approach for Edinburgh.

 

Looks like it is going to be Edinburgh. But like Stimpson, Scally does not want to pay compensation so could drag on.

 

The compensation issue is a stumbling block, from the sounds of it, some of it has been brought on by the heavy publicity around our small windfall that we will get from the Bertrand deal. Newport apparently want in excess of £100,000 compensation for him.

 

Six figures compensation........far too rich and not a priority at present as the 'Management Cooperative' are probably doing the best job seen at Gills since they won the league two championship. In the words of 'Dad's Army'..... Don't panic.......

 

I would imagine Edinburgh himself would want it as low as possible as it could have implications on his wage and transfer budget. Still Newport are having a 12.30pm news conference, three hours later than normal. Sounds like an announcement, we can't be far off.
